Exhaust Q's again....lol
okay so i was about to order the maggie 14" si/do muffler and tips but then i got thinking. i thought of some other possible setups and i would just like input on what yall think would be the best setup.
1. maggie 14" si/do -94306 high flow cats possible 2. roush off road-94306 high flow cats possible 3. borla xr-1 with y pipe after for 2.5" duals- 94306high flows possible 4. maggie 4" round magnapack y pipe after for 2.5" duals- 94306 high flows possible. tip: 3.5"x12" maggie rolled slanted tip would #3 and #4 be louder then the others with/without cats regardless. i probably wont do the cats until after the initial install just so i can decide if i need them or not. |

also which would be the deepest. i dont really want annoying sound just a good deep, loud sound at WOT.
|
borla Xr1 hands down. loudest, deepest, best sounding muffler out of those.

another vote for the xr1

so would i not need high flow cats with the xr-1. also i have a flowmaster 40 si/do so im not really sure what the pipe size is between the muffler and the y pipe but what should i run from the y pipe? the y after the cats ....lol sorry if that seems confusing. i know after the muffler i'll run 2.5".
|
Your pipe from the Y pipe to your muffler is 2.5" also.
|
why not do high flow converters AND the borla xr1?! cant get much better than that!
|
Best performance and sound gain should be run with 3" piping from the Y, into the muffler, and out all the way to the tip, then whatever outlet tip you want. Depends on how loud you want. I would run the XR1 3" with stock cats, and see if you want louder. If you do, you can remove your cats and run high flows.

and this is a stupid question but my mpg with this type setup vs. the flowmaster i have should increase a tid bit huh.... ehh..probably not though cuz i'll want to here it rumble..lol

3" is the best pipe size for performance on a si/so exhaust. You could run 3" from the y to the muffler and then have a 3" SI/2.5" DO y pipe, thats all. Any shop should be able to do that no problem.

also whats the difference between the sportman xr-1 and multi-core xr-1.
|
3" on a single pipe exhaust is not top big and is the best way to go. My exhaust is 3" all the way from the y back. That's the way to go. I always thought that multicore wAs just what Borla used in their race mufflers. Where R u looking?
