Gott's Problems

As some of you have seen in a previous thread, I have been having some issues with my Gott's intake. I followed the article to the letter, installed the system, and saw very positive results right away, especially with my throttle response and a little in my gas milage.

However, using my Edge tuner, I have been monitoring my intake temperatures, and it seems that the intake is running 30* or so too warm. In other words, if it is 65 degrees outside, my intake temperature is running at about 95 degrees.

Others have told me to check for leaks and such, but after inspection by myself, and a few of my friends that are mechanics, we can not find any leaks in the system. One of my friends was telling me that this is due to the way that the air flows under the hood off of the engine block and radiator and then back into the fender well for the intake to then suck up. He thinks that the temperature increase that I am seeing seems normal.

Does this sound on par with you guys? As you have more experience with this, I would like your input. Any body else noticed this issue?

Here are some pics. Its dirty, I just got back from Pismo Beach (see album).

If you have no leaks, then this has nothing to do with your gotts mod. Because the way you explained it is the hot air is coming from the fender well which is the exact spot as factory without the gotts mod.

You can't get any kind of cold air reading unless your reading is while driving at speeds anyhow.

Thanks for the reply's. Yes, these readings are taken while driving, however, I dont know how acurate they are, as they are the readings I am recieving from my Edge Evo programmer. In other words, this is what my PCM is reporting, right?

So I understand that the Gotts system gets the air from the same place as stock, the fender well. What I dont understand is how cold air gets to the fender well? It is pretty well sealed from fresh air, and it seems to me that air is being circulated from the engine bay to the fender well.

I guess I may be wrong. I will recheck my readings.

Not sure if you know but look at the underside of the stock intake tube. I was putting mine in the shed from the garage since i have the volant cai with power core filter and there are like perfurated holes in the bottom of the tube. Take a look and see it would suck the hot air in your engine .

Will do, thanks.
