Gott's intake questions
I need some help. I'm doing the intake tomorrow and I got the materials today. I just have a couple questions.
I need to know how long of a section of PVC to cut. I've read that somewhere between 4 and 5 inches, but is there an exact length? Also, how far do I need to sand down on the pvc. I mean, I know how much I need to sand is just enough so that it goes into the fenderwall, but I mean how far does it need to reach inside to the fenderwall? Maybe like 1.5 inches? I appreciate the help and I can't wait to see the results. |
Don't know if you've seen this but hopefully it helps. It says a piece between 4 and 5 inches that sticks at least 2" into the fenderwall.

i ground mine down just so it stays in place in the fender, it doest really even go into the fender, just as long as thats where it pulls the air from

best way for you to decided exactly how much you need to cut and sand is trial and error while your working on your truck. good luck its pretty darn easy, and quiet amazing how small of a hole it originally draws thru compaired to the pvc pipe.

like they said, however a 4-5 inch piece will give you more room for error
|
Thanks guys... I just started working on the sanding.
|
can you post a picture of the pipe before you install it? so others can see the different examples that work
|
I used a rubber coupler designed for PVC pipe joining. Has worked pretty well, and was just the right length for my truck.
Plus it was already black to match the rest of the engine bay :D |
I'm working on it. Sanding PVC pipe ain't no joke. I'll post a picture of the pipe and process later, although I've never posted a picture on here, so I could need some help with that too haha. Thanks again guys.

I know you click the "Insert Image" button, but my pictures don't have URL's. Thanks.

Gott Intake Install
After sanding down a 4.5" long piece of 3" PVC pipe, I put it through to the fenderwell. I made sure that I did a lot of trial and error, so that it fit as snug as possible.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/q...ottIntake1.jpg I put the 3" coupler on the PVC and tightened it down. http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/q...ottIntake2.jpg http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/q...ottIntake3.jpg Put the air filter drum on the coupler and tightened it down. http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/q...ottIntake4.jpg Put the K&N filter back in and tightened it all down. http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/q...ottIntake5.jpg |
Just for reference
