replacing stock muffler

I have an 07 supercrew with the 5.4l engine. I have read a lot of exhaust forums and am planning on replacing my stock muffler with an 18" or 22" magnaflow muffler. I want to keep the truck somewhat quiet while gaining a little hp and tq. Has anyone out there done this same muffler swap? If so, what are your impressions. Was the swap worth the money? Did you notice an any kind of improvements?

not many people do the 18" or the 22" magnaflow because of how quiet they are, most people want an exhaust to be heard.. but if your wanting a little louder than stock i would go with the 18" or the 14"

Did you notice and HP, TQ, or MPG gains with 18" magnaflow. I would really like to add a little TQ for pulling my 24' camper

Lets be realistic here. It's just a simple muffler swap. You're not going to feel a difference. I don't care what anyone says. It's the placebo effect. It'll just sound better.

A 22" will be very slightly louder than stock and sound a little more aggressive. The 18" will be a little louder and a little more aggressive than the 22".

X2 what MudTerrain said.

I have an 18" Maggy, and it sounds better than stock If you search up a thread called "Exhaust Videos," there's a collection of various exhaust setup videos there. I have my video somewhere there.

Not to much... Inside anyway!!
I'm told out back it sounds bad azz while I'm crusing!!

I've got about 600 miles on it now.
And it does seem to be breaking in and getting a little louder...
I took that into account when I picked this muffler...
I was going to get a 14 but after break in didn't want it to loud...

Check the Classifieds here...
Someone is selling a Magnaflow 12256 for 50 bucks...
Same as mine but single in, single out...

As far as MPG, not yet... I've had my foot in a quite a bit!!
TQ... Maybe a little... It does squeal the tires when I step on it now.

Here's a couple pics:

AirAid modular intake tube, K&N filter, Magnaflow Exhaust, Line-X'd bed and fender wells, 2.5 Inch AS Level Kit and 3 inch AS Rear Block, 1 Mile range Viper 5900 SST remote start and alarm system, JL Audio Stealthbox, JL Audio 500/1, JL Audio 300/4, Alpine Type-R 6.5 inch components in front doors, Alpine Type-R 5x7's in rear doors, Alpine Iva-w505, LOTS of Dynamat, 15% Tinted windows, Billet Grills in factory H-bar and lower bumper.

I have a Magnaflow 18" and it's a lot better sounding than stock. Paired with a cold air intake though it can definitely be heard.

Here's some videos:

Im not so sure about no more power. I just put on a 14 magnaflow and when going over 2 hills I always drive over it used to downshift at the top. Now It doesn't.

I sort of like the sound the Thrusher Mufflers make... Auto Zone here has this little sound box thing where you can here the different sounds.. I was thinking about just getting one of these because I am noticing some rust spots on my muffler and you know it want be long .. I still dont think I want to do dual's .. It's just not my style...

Those are ok mufflers but why not go with a muffler that wont rust out. Magnaflows are a lot more durable and will stand up to more punishment due to weather over that one you are talking about.
