Punch Out the Rear Cats??
Good or Bad idea...... Running a Magnaflow 18x5x8 muffler Dual exhaust now.
Would punching my cats do anything for me?? Sound Power etc... |
Punch out as in removal? More sound, lightly improved economy & torque.
If your truck is a 2006 it does not have rear cats, it has the basic two big ones. Only option is hi-flow cats. |

Gotcha....
Yeah I ment hollow them out. I did this to my GMC Syclone but that's a 1991 Wasn't sure how it would effect the 2006 I didn't know I only had the 2 under there... Maybe I'll just leave it be then... |

CooL... I'll look into High Flows!!
In your opinion are they worth the $ ? http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/6171/t1rn5.th.jpg AirAid modular intake tube, K&N filter, Magnaflow Exhaust, Line-X'd bed and fender wells, 2.5 Inch AS Level Kit and 3 inch AS Rear Block, 1 Mile range Viper 5900 SST remote start and alarm system, JL Audio Stealthbox, JL Audio 500/1, JL Audio 300/4, Alpine Type-R 6.5 inch components in front doors, Alpine Type-R 5x7's in rear doors, Alpine Iva-w505, LOTS of Dynamat, 15% Tinted windows, Billet Grills in factory H-bar and lower bumper. |
Took out my rear two because there was no 02 sensors after them.
|
The value of your current cats offset the cost quite a bit. Some people get a lot of money for their old cats at the recycler. Some shops will work deals on labor costs to keep your old cats. So when all is said and done the cost is small. I think if you do it all yourself you could probably come out on top.

Very much worth it. Sound and flow increases, $65 - $80 for a legal cat converter, very agreeable. |
