Does anyone's exhaust ever drive them crazy?

I was just curious to see if anyone ever went back to the stock muffler after having an exhaust on their ride.

I love the way my exhaust sounds under WOT and around town it doesn't bother me but I do a lot of highway traveling and with my 4.10 gears and the OEM 20's the exhaust note drives me crazy after awhile. I'm thinking about going back to the stock muffler to enjoy the peace and quiet when I'm driving all around hell for work.

Which exhaust do you have?

I have a 5"X8" oval Magnaflow muffler, 18" long, and I think it's too loud as well. I'm going to duals and I'm trying the Magnaflow 5"X11" DIDO oval muffler, 22" long. Hopefully that'll quiet it down some.

when im cruising at freeway speeds at a certain spot on my rpm range my magnaflow sounds horrible, TONS of incab drone. but as soon as you leave that spot the drone goes away and it sounds great again. drives me crazy sometimes but damn do i love the sound of my maggie at WOT

I've got a 5"X8" oval muffler too. It's the longest that Magnaflow makes (24") and I also added a Imco Resonator to try and quiet it down.

This is the one I have.

It's only at certain rpm's that the exhaust is REALLY droning cruising on the higway but I'm getting sick of it.

That's pretty much EXACTLY what I'm experiencing. But my chaning my gears it seems that the spots it drones at are more near where I cruise now so I'm not sure what to do.

Sorry about your drone issues. I have a Roush Off Road exhaust and it just makes an awesome sounding exhaust tone inside the cab. :D

when i had my exhuast just dumped after the rear o2 it droned so bad at highway it almost put me to sleep. the other funny thing about the droning is every now and then my Subwoofer and the exhuast will make the same tone and make this really really werid/ cool noise. if i have a head ache my exhuast doesnt help but i get over it. and thats what happends when your exhuast pipes end under your feet :)

Love my exhaust rumble inside the cab. Still getting used to the drone of the air intake. IMO, rumle and drone are different. I like one, getting used to the other.

What do you mean by straight pipes? No Muffler?

I love the sound of mine. Sometimes turn off the radio, just to listen to the music my engine makes.:D

Thats why I do with my Dakota... I love the big-rig sound it makes when I down shift down a nice long hill.

At times i wish mine wasn't as loud as it is.
I used to have the exit out each side of the back bumper. It wasn't loud enough so i cut it off right after the mufflers!! That gave me the sound i wanted but the downside is it's friggin loud as hell after about 1,800 RPM's while cruising:mad: You have to yell to carry a conversation with a passenger. If you crank the radio way up you can still hear the exhaust. For talking on the cell phone the windows have to be rolled all the way up and it's still a struggle to hear. I have had a bunch of people on the phone ask if i was in a dump truck:lol:
Oh and to top it off my 35 inch tires really start humming after 60 MPH so you have the combination of tire humming and loud exhaust.

The upside is the compliments i get on the sound of it from people. Also the look and hand gestures from every slow driving person that i pass when my truck hits 5,000 RPM++ makes it worth while:D
I don't regret it!!!!!!!

Well there is a CURE

To each his own but I've tried the largest MAGNAFLOW or the LARGEST BORLA or the LARGEST whatever but bottom line is SINCE I installed my CORSA there is no comparison. The only manufaturer that is correct in advertising NO DRONE..Between 1800 and 2100 RPMS its stone quiet.
Ask some of the other CORSA CREW F-150 members and they will tell you the same..

I was willing to pay alittle more instead of cutting up exhausts this time to figure it out.
It was worth it!!
