Thumbs up Corsa is ON! (tips)

After a couple hours of labor last night, my Corsa is installed.

Install went about like expected... stock muffler was a little harder to get off than I expected. Plus with the sudden warm weather it was incredibly humid and everything was wet and my glasses kept trying to fog up. So there were a few difficulties.

Here's a picture of the tip

It looks kinda funny as it was running for awhile and moisture condensed and collected at the bottom of the tip. Like I said, the humidity was insanely high last night while I was working on this. I washed the truck right before I started, but with the rain and driving through the alley to get to my garage you can see theres already some sand kicked up onto the truck. This is a bad time of year to try and keep a vehicle clean.

There are a few more pictures in my gallery

I don't have any good pictures yet... by the time I was done it was raining like crazy. And then that changed into snow. Luckily I got out driving before the snow hit and got to punch it a few times. The sound is really nice. I wish it hadn't been raining so I could have rolled the windows down to hear it better. It sounds good just sitting there and running / revving. But it sounds even better when you are driving. I haven't done any highway driving yet but cruising at 30-40 MPH is nice and quiet. But then you punch it and it rumbles.

Alright - here are my install tips
  • The compression fitting on the stock pipe is welded on... just loosen it, don't try get it to move. I hit it a couple times to try to knock it loose before I came to the conclusion that it was tacked in place with a weld.
  • Check all the connections BEFORE going under the truck. One of the notched connections on my muffler was slightly bent in... just enough that I couldn't slide it onto the connecting pipe. Which I didn't realize till I was under the truck with the muffler.
  • Use tons and tons of lube on the factory hangers to get them out. I also had to hit one a few times to get it to slide.
  • If like me, you do this in your garage (and you don't have a super-duper garage with a lift) you might find it easier to run the truck up on some boards. I have an FX4 with 18" wheels, but it still helps to add another 4 inches of clearance under the truck. That way I could move around on my creeper instead of laying on the wet floor. I could have squeezed under without the added clearance, but that makes it hard to move around. (I do the same thing with the front wheels when I change the oil... it just gives you a little more room to maneuver)

Other than these comments, the instructions from Corsa are very well written and everything went as expected.

I'll have to get some pictures outside when I get the chance. Right now the wind chill is like -20°F so it probably won't be today. Hopefully this weather clears so I can get out on a highway and see what it really will do.

Thanks

Its about the same as the stock muffler... maybe a hair lower. I didn't measure it, but looking at the before/after video it looks like it might be a bit lower.

I shot a video of the stock muffler, no muffler, and the Corsa muffler. I need to figure out how/where to upload them and post a link.

It will get sound better over time depending on how you drive. Make sure you retorque your bolts after a few heating/cool cycles.

Looks good but im looking forward to some full side shots.
Welcome to the F150 Corsa club.

I have my camera with me today... I left it at home yesterday
So I'll take some pictures at lunch or after work and post them tomorrow morning. Its snowing here again today, so it should make for some nice pictures hopefully. Although my truck won't exactly be clean... you only have to drive about a block in this snow/slush we have to get it dirty. But you'll be able to see the new exhaust and thats the main thing

Here are some pictures of the truck. Its pretty dirty from all the snow and slush. And its really cloudy here. I'll have to start carrying my camera with me... the next time we get a nice sunny day I'll get some better pictures

I think I need to rotate the tip a little clockwise. I couldn't back up from it to tell in my garage, and now that I can see it from a distance it looks like its tipped slightly. That will get fixed this weekend, if not sooner. Plus I need to go in and re-tighten the bolts anyway.

So far so good. Still haven't gotten it out on the highway. Too many idiots driving on the roads right now. I took these pictures over at a park between work and home... and just getting there I about got hit - the guy tried to make a turn going way to fast and slid right into my path as I was coming to the stop sign. Luckily I saw him coming and stopped. None-the-less, I'm paranoid enough to stay off the highway with all the snow and ice. If I was going somewhere, I'd drive on it... but just to hear the exhaust isn't worth it... I can wait a couple days

I had the same rotation problem with my dual tips...I even foolishly tried using a level but eyeball, front back and straight on viewing worked for me.
I would be someplace, look at it, get the socket and adjust...quite a few times before I was satisfied.

Interesting looking tip. If you can, make sure you do a straight on looking in the pipe shot of the side of the truck.

Did you do any intake mods yet?

I might have that picture... but its on my home computer if I do.

I have the stock intake, but with the K&N high flow air filter. I took it out on the highway last night and at WOT you could really hear the air "whistling" through the intake. I use the "" because I don't thing whistling is really the right word but its the best one I can think of right now. Maybe after a couple cups of coffee I'll find a better one

Like I said in the previous post... I had it out on the highway last night. It was a little snowy/slushy so I didn't go nuts. But I had some fun

Set the cruise control at about 75 and it was nice and quiet. Then I kicked off the cruise and coasted to 70, hit WOT and went up to about 85. The sound is still not really loud, but you can hear it. I can't wait for some warmer weather so I can open the windows and drive around. Like I said before, you can hear the air flowing through the engine now, where before you didn't hear that. I like the torque too, I think the low-end is a little better... just going off feel.

Anyway, I have no regrets. I've been wanting one for awhile and the $400 sale price was a great find. Thanks to whoever it was that originally posted that in the forums
