2010 Expedition High Flow Cats

Do any of you have experience with the direct replacement cats from Magnalfow? Seems like most use a universal fit, any reason?

Most choose the universal route cause they have to be cut out out and welded back in anyways.....and its a less expensive alternative.....

direct fits are nice but I don't see them being rated as a high flow cat?

High flow really means nothing at all. The term "high flow cats" just refers to a louder than stock cat. They all really "flow" about the same. The brisket in stock cats has smaller holes threw it, but the converter it self is much larger too. So, small holes but with a lot more service area. Verdict? About equal flow.

A couple of FYI's

1. Replacing the cats with high flow units will really gain, very, very little power (5 hp best), to touch the cats before 8yrs/80k miles (Even though you are exempt from inspections, you are not exempt from the requirement to have them) is risky from a variety of aspects including reselling the vehicle.

IMHO, it's not worth the risk versus the little gain.

I'm supercharged, so I think there are gains to be had. I'm not talking about eliminating them.

The plan right now is to go with Magnaflow 94136 cats and either a Magnaflow 12568 DIDO with the True-X perforated core, or 12579 SISO. Thoughts on the mufflers? I'm leaning towards the DIDO, just nervous an exhaust shop will get the tips to line up right and look good.

I'm not sure there is room to get duals over the axle and out on the Expedition. The 12909 is another option. 3.5" in and out. I'll have to see if any muffler shops around here can work with 3.5" pipe. The pipe area is basically the same as 2.5" duals.

I have two magnaflow highflow cats and removed precats running to a magnaflow magnapack to a 5" RBP muffled tip on my 2010 Lincoln navigator. It sounds good. No problems during install...
