auto climate control conversion
auto climate control conversion
been working on wiring for EATC swap and need to know if the harness is modular construction If there are any ford Techs out there please look at what I have come up with so far and give me some feed back on harness.
First
I cross referanced with 2000 expedtion harness and wonder if anyone can get part numbers for the following causal harness numbers 18b518 and 14401
second looks like truck will have to be refitted with
(1)blower speed controller to replace resister type.(c282)
(2)need new blend door actuator
(3) need sunlight sensor
(4) need in car temp sensor and maybe new radio dash surround to house it
(5) my truck already has ambient temp sensor just have to pick up sensor from harness
ETAC connector conversion Rough draft! INFORMATIONAL ONLY
CODE
-> TO
<-FROM
* EXISTING NO EATC CONNECTOR
? DID NOT FINISH TRACE YET( YOUR INPUT WELCOME)
THREE DIGIT NUMBER ARE CKT NUMBERS
: MEANS CKT DISCRIPTION
GOES IN THIS ORDER
pin/CRKT/WIRE CODE/DISC
CONNECTOR C280 ON EATC
1-915 PK/BL:SBC- pcm data link
2-729-RD/WH:POWER HOT ALL TIMES
3-57-BK:GROUND <-*C219 PIN 1
4-470- SENSOR INPUT GROUND ?
5-n/a
6-243-LG/OG: BLEND DOOR ACT FEEDBACK +5 -> C229 PIN 5
7-767 LB/OG: AMBIENT SENSOR INPUT
15-914-TN/OG
cm data linkl
16-296-WH/VT: POWER HOT IN RUN ?
17-461- OG :BLOWER RELAY ?
18-246-VT: BLEND FEEDBACK WIPER ->C229 PIN 1
19-434-LB/BL:FRONT PANEL ILLUMINATION <-*C219 PIN PIN 2
20-468-BN-:SUNLOAD SENSOR INPUT
CONNECTOR C281
8-1070-BN/LB :STEERING WHEEL INPUT (NOT YET)
9-247-WH/YE:BLEND DOOR ACTUTOR FEEDBACK GND ->C229 PIN6
10 N/A
11-348-VT:A/C CONPRESSOR CUTOFF -> *C217 PIN 3
12 N/A
13-250-DG:BLEND DOOR ACT MOTOR DRIVE HEAT ->C229 PIN 7
14-19-LB/RD:INSTRMENT PANEL LIGHT FEED ?
21-790- WH/OG: IN CAR TEMP SENSOR INPUT
22-575-YE/BK: RELAY TO AUX CONTROL(DUAL ZONE) N/A
23-184-TN/OG: BLOWER CONTROL INPUT ->C282 PIN 3
24 N/A
25 n/A
26-DB/LG:BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR DRIVE COOL -> C229 PIN 8
my theory is that if the harness is of modular design I can swap out the harness at one of the in line connector faces to come up with the proper harness connectors to the newly installed modules
also need to know what the sbc- and sbc + are and need a diag for the hose connections update thread sbc+ & - are PCM power train module data link

turbo497,
I am trying to convert my Temperature control too. All I have is the electronic head unit and no knowledge whatsoever of how to do the conversion. I would really appreciate it if you can post a detailed "how-to" when you are finished. I know I have to get sensors and harnesses, but I don't know what to do with them, so that doesn't help. Your hands-on expertise will really help. //cpharley

your saying sbc. the shop manual show it two ways. spc and scp. it stands for standard corporate protocol. so scp would be the best. they are twisted pair. data bus plus and minus. it allows inter-module communication. it allow several modules to share inputs and outputs. it is one of two networks of communication that the truck has. and as far as just adding a module to that network. im not sure i never tried it. you might want to look up a few parts. and see if they are inter changeable. like pcm, rcm, gem, rap, abs, icm. there are more. but i would stick with ones that might share info with or from eatc. it should work. but im not sure. not sure if it would work with out it connected to the other modules in the network. you should be able to test this if you have access to a ford scan tool and a expy. with eatc. with just pulling a few pins and running a few of your on selftests. or just driving it and trying things. good luck on your swap. if i can help in some way. i think my email is on here. like i said not sure about this. but would like to know if it works. the most concern i see is the cost. i know the eatc modules are a pretty pennie. good luck.
Just bringing this thread back from the dead to see if anyone has any further information or completed this convesion. Any information would help. Thanks
