Symptons are: I hit the down button, and it travels all the way down, I can pause it by reversing button to "up", but as soon as I let off "up", it continues down.

Once down, I cannot raise back up UNLESS I shut off key and turn back on AND only if I open the door when I try it. It won't work with the door closed.

These symptoms are so specific i'm hoping one of you guys can diagnose from them.

My SWAG is a bad OTD ( One Touch Down ) function in the driver's side switch.

It could be an issue with the switch itself, but either way that is new switch time.

BTW: don't use the up to interrupt a OTD function, press the down again to stop it. Pressing the up will cause carbon from arcing in the switch and the up function will not work after some time. There is a thread on cleaning the switch contacts in the how to, that shows the problem with doing this.
