I just bought a 1990 ford f150 300 6 cylinder. It drove home great, the previous owner said you have to push the clutch in super far to get it to start. Once home I tried to startit and nothing. When I turn the key all the lights on the dash turn on and you hear the click noise but it wont crank. I think it's the clutch safety switch but I can't located it I've searched countless forums please help!

 

The clutch safety switch is under the dash just inside the firewall. It goes around the rod that goes into the clutch master cylinder. So if you find the clutch master cylinder under the hood, the safety switch will be on the other side of the firewall inside the cab.

To remove the safety switch it has a piece that separates top and bottom so you can remove it from the rod after unhooking the electrical connector.

 

 

Does one of these three look like the clutch safety switch?

 

I don't think so. Put your head under the dash and push the clutch pedal down by hand. Look a couple inches to the right and maybe 6 inches above where the steering column goes through the firewall. You will see a rod move as you push the clutch pedal down. The safety switch goes around that rod.
