Cracked Alternator

Well for awhile now I had the famous F150 Alt whine...well the other day the truck stalled out...got it fired but it had a terrible clicking noise...shut it off..restarted and seamed fine...today was a nice almost spring day so I thought I would swap out the whiny Alt..low and behold...the Alt housing was cracked..anybody ever seen anything like this?

Yea, but it was in the asphalt, not an alternator. How the heck did you accomplish that? Don't think there's enough Silly Putty to camouflage that for a core credit. Must get colder than even I thought in Canada to crack that thing.
