scanner prob.

04 f150 4.6ltr i cant get into the system with a scanner tried 2 diff. ones. It says unable to communicate with vehicle any ideas what would cause this?

Usually a blown fuse for the OBD-II port, which is the same as the Cigar lighter.

well what if both lighters work? then it cant be the fuse?

Check to see if your scanner is CAN-capable. The 2004 trucks switched from the old communications protocol to CAN making older scanners obsolete.

Both lighters ?? There is 1 Cigar lighter and 1 power point, and they are on 2 different fuses.
