2005 f250 blowing fuse 41
 
Hello guys, my f250 is blowing fuse #41, i unhooked the radio and the window switches and it still pops the fuse, anyone have this problem before?It does say the fuse is for the instrument cluster. Thanks for any responce guys

Cab Fuse #41 is to the instrument cluster ( owners manual page 210 ) for the battery saver relay normally open contacts that feeds the coil on the accessory delay relay ( which would isolate the items you unplugged from being a cause of Fuse #41 blowing ).

I would start by pulling the accessory delay relay, and see if the fuse still blows when you turn the truck on.

If it does, that would indicate an issue with the non serviceable fuse in the cluster ( at least memory is telling me it is a non serviceable relay, meaning surface mounded and would require unsoldering it ).

If the fuse does not blow when the relay is out, try swapping with another full size ISO relay in the fuse panel, and retest.

I put the fuse in and it didn't blow with or with or without relay. Started truck several times, all worked. Let sit over night and fuse was blown in morning replaced and it blew without relay even in on contact. Just to make sure it is relay in slot 306 right?

This tells me the wiring to the cluster or the cluster itself is causing the issue.

Going to be hard to find an intermittent fault, but can be done, next step is to do the same test with the wire removed from the connector at the cluster.

Don't know if you are up for this.

I pulled the cluster out, I unplugged both sets of wires. Do I have to remove one wire from the plugs is that what you are saying?

Sorry about the delay, needed to get time to access my 2005 EVTM, so I could get the diagram you will need.

Which you try 1st is up to you:

Light Green w/ Yellow stripe wire
Light Green w/ Orange stripe wire

Be careful releasing the pin from the connector, so it goes back in. If you do not have the pin release tool ( to get into the connector ) is might be best to clip the wire with enough room to solder / heat shrink it back together later.

Ok I unplugged the bl/lg and the fuse did not blow until I cut the ignition on, I unplugged lg and orange and nothing happened off or on. I checked resistance with om meter to ground on both wires the bl/lg went all the way over, the lg/og did nothing.
I tested these two wires from the diagraph first after i posted and read yours i saw the two rires you wanted me to test.
Doing lg/yellow now.

Ok I have two wires that are lg/yellow, pulled the one with the black connecter to the cluster, nothing happen to fuse on or off and wire shows resistance at ground. Testing other one now.

Ok on blue connecter to the cluster the lg/yellow wire removed the fuse blew as soon as I slid fuse in, key was off.

This tells you it is with the accessory delay relay in the CJB and after that.

The path to ground is to be expected, with the key on, that is how the relay is activated.

Not too sure where you got Blue w/ Light green stripe wire at, that is not part of the diagram that I see ( I see a black w/ Light green, but that is going the wrong way ).

i did the black w light green not blue sorry, which way should i go next then?
