GEM's and RAP's

Hate to beat a dead horse but..... I've looked under my dash for these and have not been able to locate them. Is anyone aware of any pictures, or copies of service/tech manuals, which I may have a look at? As the warm weather approaches I have 3 modifications planned. Auto locks, keypad and climate control, all of which I believe require the GEM and RAP? TIA, Dennis

as for the rap it is a 3 1/2 inch square box located all the way up on the left side of the brake pedal on the firewall. you will see 2 connectors in it and on the 98 it is mostlikey installed with the numbers facing the firewall so the code can't be seen. It is very dificult to see without a flashlight.

I would think that all trucks have a gem because all other moudles plug into it radio, turn singals, power windows, etc

as far as the expedition climate control- I'm still working on a splice schedule for the module to interface to the factory computer system. 90 percent of the wiring does not change a still have to trace back two connectors for a splice schedule

Thanx Turbo, I've been looking above the parking brake! Will head to parking garage now to have another look. Do you know if this can be added if not a factory installed equipment?

Damn, No luck. My guess is the truck is not equipped with the RAP. I would tend to think a Lariat would be. Is the Lariat equal to Eddie Bower or LS in terms of standard equipment? I need to find a boneyard with some F150's in it. My local one does'nt have any. A testament perhaps?

One way to tell if you have a RAP is the theft light will light when you lock the driver door with the power door lock.

do you have the fat ford key and the keychain remote entry locks? If you do you have a rap. the antenna for the remoter entry pad is in the rap.

No I don't have the fat key and remote locks. I did however install a remote lock and starter system in my truck.

well, you don't have a rap. you can check for the harness connectors under the dash-see if there tied off some where

Anybody have a picture of the harness and/or RAP or possibly a copy of it from a service manual? I use to have access to the service manuals at the local library but it is currently being remodeled and all the books were put in storage. I don't think they are readily available.
