Truck's electrical will not shut off?
Hey guys and gals. I did a few quick search and have not seen anyone else with this issue. I was driving my truck like normal and no problems. I ran to the store this morning and came home and parked it...all normal. I went back out to the truck to get something else and I notice my radar detector (wired to radio) and the radio are on, also the chime came on when I open the door as if the key was in the ignition. Weird right? So i tried to jiggle it a bit to see if it did not click onto the locked/of position before removing the key, jiggled the steering wheel, shifter, even moved the truck and drove it. Now the gauges will shut off except the battery gauge, also I hear all of the relays in the dash clicking like when my battery has died before.
So I have 2 thoughts. I do have an alarm/remotes start and the key bypass could be telling the truck a key is still there, thus giving the chime (or is it from a physical thing in the ignition). Or my best guess, is the ignition cylinder is worn/messed up. The truck thinks a key is in there and it wants to continue giving power. Opinions, fixes, help? Please?:(:help::help: |
