LED Blinking too fast and rear doors don't unlock

Hey all,

Got a problem with the taillight LEDs that I installed. They're blinking real fast. I was told I need to install load resistors. I am also going to install switchback leds in front. Am I going to do that for the switchbacks too or will the hyperblinking stop?

Second when I turn off the truck my rear locks don't open. Shouldn't they unlock like the front?

I have an 06 5.4 ltr lariat supercrew.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Patman,

What type of relay is it that I would need? I looked up a website and they have an 8 pin flasher relay for Fords is that the right one?
Here is the website.

For the fast blinking, you need to install the load resistors ( the directions with the bulb should have had this info ).

If you do not, your Cruise Control might stop working ( depends if you have a standard bulb still in the CHMSL position ).

Without the load from standard bulbs, your truck will think the brake lamps are out, and turn off the CC.

The rear doors do not unlock like the fronts.
Actually the fronts are not auto unlocking ( with the factory setup, aftermarket RKE / Alarm could change this ), but pulling the handle in the front will pop the locks up, where the rear doors do not have this function. It is covered in the owners manual.

Thanks SSCULLY,

Patman mentioned an LED flasher relay, will that do the job? I copied the website on the reply above. I am a little hesitant about installing load resistors. But if I must then I have no choice. So I would have to do this on the front and back lights?

You can chance installing the new flasher, but if the truck does not see a load on the brake lamps, it will disable the CC function.

This is the load at the bulb for the stop lamps, not the flasher.

Try your CC now, to see if it works.

For the fast flashing you will need to install the load resistors in the front, for the same reason, it will look like the bulb is burnt out without the load on the flasher.

The front bulbs do not have an impact on the CC.

yah my truck is older, it used a 5 or 4 pin, looked like a regular relay, just a little taller.

Didnt have issues with cruise, only had a problem with my flashers not working, but thats just a matter of rewiring the truck to use both the original relay for flashers, and the LED compatible for blinkers.

OK gentlemen, I am going to check on the CC and make sure it's working. I really don't use it but don't want to leave it inoperable. I'll try the relay first then go with the load resistors if the relay fails to do the job.

Again I thank you.

Another thing. I was looking for the relay in the fusebox and don't know which one it would be. Please enlighten me.

mines not in a box, its tucked up under the dash, drivers footwell towards the center, just turn your blinkers on and follow the clicking sound

Gentlemen Scully was right. The cruise control is out and the flasher did take care of the hyper blinking. But the cruise control was still out. I guess I'm getting load resistors afterall.

Thanks again. Will let you know how it works out once done.
