Nope not the mother in law... Air bag light flashes then stays on 98 f-150. Any ideas??

You need to count the flash sequence.

The LFC ( Light Flash Code ) will be in the form of a 2 digit number ( i.e. 53 = 5 flashes, then 3 flashes ).

Once you have the LFC, you will know where to look next.

Where are the air bags sensors on an '01 located ? Have access to All-Data, but their pics look like a 3 year old drew them !

Which "airbag sensors" are you talking about ?

There are several sensors that have to do with the SRS.

He's probably referring to the second to last code, since his just keeps on flashing. It says "both air bag sensors disconnected", so whatever air bag sensors the code is referring to.

The table above is for a 1998 MY, not a 2001 MY.

projectSHO89 broke me of the miss application over MY of LFC tables, they are not the same ( and some times not even close from one year to the next ). 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 are all different tables, and the LFC on 1 MY is not the same as the next MY.

According to the DTC chart above, a continuously blinking light means both airbag sensors are unplugged...........I realize that this chart is not applicable to a 2001.............does anyone know where I can view a 2001 F-150 DTC chart ?

As my truck has had absoutely no work done on it, which might cause a sensor to become diconnected, I believe what my local mechanic tells me. That the cause of a continuously blinking airbag light, 90% of the time is a connection becomes corroded and needs to be cleaned via an electrical cleaner, which might make sense in my situation !

I understand powering down the vehicle to avoid accidental deployment and have access to All Data, but their pics are terrible, so I'm asking ,are there 2 impact sensors located in front or behind the radiator and are there any others I'm not aware of ?

Sorry but I hate to spend $90 bucks for a dianostic to fix a 10 minute problem !

An Airbag sensor and an impact sensor are 2 different things, if you are extending the 1998 table to your MY, looking in the front by the radiator support is the wrong place to look for the cause listed on the 1998 table.

I do not have a 2001 table handy, only the 2002 & 2000.

Looks like both the 2002 and 2000 table have continuously blinking as no communications with the RCM, so it could be the same on the 2001.

Don't recall a front impact sensor on the 2001, this was prior to airbag inflate in proportion to the severity of the crash, the airbags both go off upon deceleration, as long as the truck is moving faster than 23.5 MPH. This is all done in the SRS system, with input from the VSS.

The Front impact severity sensor I think was introduced with the 2004 New Body style ( the 04 Heritage and Lightning both use the old system ), and it is a single sensor on the front radiator support, by the outside air temperature sensor. This would be a LFC 42, which does not exist in the 2003 and older MY LFC tables.

Seems strange that, unlike the '98 DTC, the '00 and '02 don't mention anything about a "continuously blinking light" !

Err...........Update ! Apparentely a continuosly blinking air bag light, meaning no pauses, on an '01 F150 means bad airbag module. Having replace for $300. Includes, Diagnostic, parts & labor !:mad:
