1997 F-150 Windshield Washers

My '97 F-150 windshiled washers have been intermittent since early in its 3 year warranty. Dealers have always said they could not duplicate, yeah right. Sometimes I will have to mash the button 10-15 times to get them to spray. Some of these attempts start the wipers moving and some don't. Could this be caused by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM)? What else could be causing this?

I have a 97 and have found that if I turn the wipers on to the fastest speed and then activate the washers they have worked better.

Might want to try cleaning/re-greasing the wiper stalk contacts

A new multi-function switch costs about $100 or so.
The wipers on my 97 stopped working correctly around 1999. Finally about 3 years ago the headlights also started flaking out so I went ahead & bought a new mult-function switch- fixed both problems.
