I'm sure everyone has this problem....
 

My horn on my 03' has gotten water ( or anything that splashed up from the wheels) in it and changes tones, mostly the low side horn. Is there any fix or modification I can do to prevent buying another $65 horn? I think this is the same set-up on the 1997-2003 & 2004 heritage trucks. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :help:

I've heard of this happening but never experienced it. I think the best option would be to buy new horns and relocate them somewhere where they won't be getting hit with water a lot.

Maybe try some pep-boys horns? They have several different tones and are much cheaper than factory. No idea how well they hold up though.

I have tried to shop around, i.e. pep-boys, discount autoparts. nobody seems to carry anything similar to the factory horns, unless i want to cut wires, add connectors, and go that route.:eek: I thought $65 was alittle steep for a horn, untill i picked it up at the dealership. it is actually both horns, low & high pitched, and the bracket to mount them to the frame. The problem with moving the horns to a different location is what do you do with the existing wiring? As of right now, from the factory, the horn wiring is interegrated with the fog light wiring route. Why cant Ford just add a splash guard or something to protect something as simple as a horn?:confused:

I put air horns on my truck and would be glad to get rid of mine for cheap if you want a set.

I got water in mine and it got really high sounding. So i unscrewed them and shook the water out. I shook out as much as possible and flipped it all around. Then i screwed it back on and voila. Good as new!
