Remote Keyless Entry

I just bought a 1999 Ford F-150 XLT Supercab 4x4. It came with 2 keys but no remote entry fobs. Is there an easy way to tell if I even have remote keyless entry on this truck before I go out and buy new/used fobs and try to program them? Thanks for your help.

Ok, did some more research on the forum - the "turn key/door locks test" and the module (under dashboard on left side).

What is the turn key/door locks test? I have the same problem. 1999 F150 XLT with key, but no fob. I took it to the local dealer and the service tech said that it wasn't programmed for remote entry. The owner's manual doesn't say that this is an optional feature, so I assume it is standard. Is the service tech just blowing smoke? How can I find out for myself if it is programmed for remote entry?

I think what he means by that is if you cycle the key 8 times without starting the vehicle in 10 seconds, the door locks will cycle. This puts it in a mode to program remotes.

***EDIT***
I have seen a couple vehicles that for w/e reason want you to get in, close the door, and hit the lock button before doing so. if it doesnt work the first way, try again, thn try this way. But I think it will be the first way..

Ok, so you found :

When you do this, what happens ?

Also, did you look for the RAP under the dash ? Should be a 5 digit code on it
It is located up under the dash, about in line with the pass compartment fuse panel / parking brake lever:

Looks like this ( that is the ratchet mech for the parking brake on the left of the picture ) :

My 2000 XLT did not have the RAP module. I went to the junkyard and got the RAP module, but now I don't see the plugs anywhere. Did Ford make two harnesses..one with the plug in for hte remote entry and one without??? I wouldn't think so..so I am wondering if the plugs are hidden somewhere???

That is what happens. Without the RAP / CSM installed from the factory, the harness is different. Much easier to get an after Market RKE from Travis with the wiring directions.
