wont start

wont start

i have a '90 F150 that wont start. i had the battery and starter both checked, and are good. replaced the solenoid. if i use jumpers, i get a clicking when i proceed to start, then my battery is almost drained. i have tried connecting just the starter to the solenid, and i get clicking but i wont turn over. any ideas??

Turn the key to on and nothing but after you go to start it...click...click...click.

I am uncertain if the 90 and 00 would have major design revamps, as far as electrical systems, but mine does that when a relay pops in the system.

Open the fuse box and listen carefully, the click click should be coming from a fused relay in there or in the underhood fuse box. They are eight dollars at autozone for a relay that is made by the same company that manufactures them for Ford. Mine were stamped Ford but cost three dollars less each.

They kept popping when I kept hooking the battery up incorrectly. It tipped over one day and popped the relay and it took me three more relays to figure out how to hook up my battery....Install Positive first, negative second. Unintstall battery backwards...Negative first, Positive second.

Also if your battery keeps getting drained, might need to replace alternator
