Is there a brightness difference between those two wattages?

not really sure about more brightness but do not put them in a vehicle in place of 55w bulbs there is a very good chance it will damage your lighting electrical. I have seen it melt wires . So use caution when using higher watt bulbs.

In all likelihood, yes. Think about it... when you replace a light bulb in your house, is a 100 watt bulb in your lamp brighter than a 55 watt bulb in the lamp?

As mentioned above, it's not a good idea on the OEM wiring. It'll fry the system.

Also, I am fully aware of teh exceptions. HID's use less wattage but produce more lumens of light. All other things being equal, though, a 100 watt bulb will be brighter than a 55.

Thats what Im worried about, is the wiring; I dont wanna rewire all this crap. I know that I cant afford a 300-dollar HID system, and I guess I am not ambitious enough for new wire harnesses.. Hm.
Maybe xenon lights will have higher lumens than halogens?

Also keep in mind that any bulb with more wattage will radiate more heat into the housings. I've never personally tried it, but a 100w bulb in place of the 55 may be enough to melt the housings even if properly wired. Sylvania Silverstars will do exactly what you're looking for.

Been there and did to my 02. Used xenon 100w bulbs and melted the wire connectors. I would advise against the 100w bulbs and opt for the silverstars unless you want to rewire

Respectfully, I have been following your posts about electrical problems and see you are creating them from lack of knowledge.
13.6 volts X 4 AMPS = 54.4 Watts.
13.6 volts X 7.4 amps = 100.6 watts.
You can see that the current roughly doubles as well as the heat production.
The original wiring/fusing will not handle it as well as the housing the bulb is put in..

Fordgirl18... I suspect she has since been banned.

Just thinking about it.... I can see the heat being a problem, but if the factory fuses are 10A (they're 10A fuses for each low beam bulb) I wonder why the wiring and socket wouldn't be able to handle the same? Don't get me wrong... I know from the experience of other members that it will likely cause problems, but I just gotta wonder....
