RKE wireless keypad won't program, Help!
 

I have a 3L2Z-14A626-AA keyless entry keypad.
It's new, with number card, instructions, etc.
I can not seem to get the Deluxe Alarm/RKE to recognize it.
I can program regular keypads quickly and easily, but the keypad keypad does nothing.
It lights up and seems to work, but the RKE/Alarm doesn't 'chirp' when I press the code, or the 7-8 + 9-0 key as you would to lock the doors.
Again, it accepts the codes from my two fobs, pressing the lock button allows it to recognize them, and it chirps once.
I have erased the two fobs and re trained them several times.
I fet nothing from the keypad.
Its battery is good as the pad lights up and acts like it's working, just no response from the RKE.
Deluxe VSS/RKE is last years model, (for 2002-2005) and all functions of it work perfectly.
It should 'learn' the keypad, as it is just the same as another fob, and it says in the instructions that it can learn up to 8 fobs. I have only two in it.


Any insight or help would be very welcome.

Been thinking about one of those for the passanger side... what's to keep someone from just pealing it off and reprogramming it for their own car?

They would have to know the built in 5 digit number.

Looks like it will only work with a factory keyless, and my truck has a dealer keyless so I am hosed.
Too bad, great little unit. And I really wanted it to work.
More money down the drain.

So the keypad has its own five digit code besides the one in the trucks security module?

Apples and Oranges. The five digit code on the GEM, RAP, RKE, etc. module is for the number pad that is built into the side of the keypad. The 'stick on' keypad is really a remote fob, that 'turns on' and transmits after you tap in your number. So if you have a five digit code, you have, or are supposed to have the keypad on the side of the truck/car. If you just have factory keyless, post 98, you can use one of these stick on modules. No need of code in RKE module, it just thinks it's a fob.

So realistically ther would be nothing to someone pealing it off and authorizing it to their truck, since the truck thinks of it as a "smart" fob with a number pad instead of a three button remote.

As I said, they would have to know the code. You have to put the code (5 digit) into the pad or it won't program.

If you put in five attempts, it locks up for a time.

If someone removed it from your truck, a touch hard, but doable, although I doubt they could get it off in one piece, it would be pretty valueless to them, unless 1. they had the code, and 2. they had a model it would work on.
If they have your code, they can steal any truck out there with a number pad.

Again, to train it to your truck, or theirs, they have to have the code. And this code is NOT in the truck, where any valet, mechanic, etc. can find it in ten seconds. The factory codes are usally a snap to find. This code would be at home in a drawer.

My stick-on keyless keypad stopped working when I re-programmed my keyless fobs. It lights up but does not work. I suspect that it needs to be reactivated or maybe programmed along with the key fobs.

You have to program it at the same time. When you reprogrammed, you 'flushed' the other settings. Most factory setups can use 4 fobs, and the keyless is one of the fobs. So program it and the fobs together. Not a big deal.


I went ahead and installed a keypad door handle, designed my own setup and it works fine. So I have the new stick on keypad left over in the box.
Shame, the stick on is a nice way to go, if you have factory keyless.
