No Start Cont'd

iam wondering if it could be the small guage red wire that attaches to the spade terminal on the starter solenoid, I changed the end and put on a new terminal, and oh ya, b4 i forget, after i initially installed the "new" starter, i took it off, and tried to get it to spin with booster cables, and well, the bendix did engage, but it turned VERY VERY VERY slow, SOOOO, off to Canadian tire We go, got it tested, and I saw the kid test it, and yup, worked just fine there, so iam stumped, i mean this shoulda been a 20 minutes "hi ma, hi pa, how ya doin " thing, but nope, after all the running around and what not, its STILL not running, and b4 I go back in the morning, I thought I would pick a few brains and see what we come up with, Thank You In Advance..............................Doug

It sounds like the cable from the battery to your starter can't supply the juice needed to turn the starter or your solenoid is clicking but the internal contacts are bad.

I would also clean all terminals and connections.

Did you use the jumper cables on the old starter to prove it was bad?

Booster cables and it was slow means the battery is not strong enough to turn it. Have the battery tested. Recharge it or replace if needed. When everything is back together and starting fine pull the +batt terminal and hook up an ohm meter in series bvetween the + cable and the + battery terminal. There should be very little draw. A large draw would mean a short somewhere. A circuit kept open. You will have to leave the tester hooked up for at least 45minutes to allow time for the acc delay relay to shut down.

Heh, some of the cheap boost cables I have seen means lots of resistance. I could not even jump some of my kids toys with those...

Check the Starter motor solenoid relay switch on the firewall. They are known to go bad. Have you tested the battery?
