For those who have done the keypad mod

I just got done installing the keypad in my truck. Everything works fine but I want to change the code to something I'll easily remember. Does anyone know the sequence to change the code. Also, I know there's other commands that I can use with the keypad, such as unlock all doors, lock the doors.., but I don't know what I should punch into the pad to use them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob:bows:

If you have your owners manual there are step by step instructions in it. If not let me know and I will look it up for you.

The how to at svtlightnings has this info in the how to posting.

http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...ad_install.htm

Read down the how to, after the parts list is the section out of the manual on how to add a personal code.

If you don't have an owners manual, you can download one from www.fleet.ford.com for you year and trim level, that also has this info in it.

Thanks guys!:bows: I didn't even think to look in my manual since the truck didn't come with the keypad. It wasn't even an option when I got it. I will look in there though.

Thanks again,
Bob

How tough was it to put in the keypad door handles? How much were the parts? I have a 1998 F150 that I would like to put in the keypad on. Thanks in advance for the info!!!

Soon to install the Iceman intake and tackle a plug change on 5.4!

It took about an hour to do and the hardest part was getting the nut closest to the back of the door on and off. It's a bugger to get to. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Parts were about $110 shipped to me.

Questions for a 98 F-150 Keypad

I have a 98 like Jonny and also had some questions about the keypad mod. My first question is, do the Lightning instructions on the web site mentioned earlier in this thread work for a 98 F-150 like mine (98 XLT V8 4.6 Supercab). I have been trying to decide for a while whether to do the keypad mod (the main stopping point is, I go to college and am worried about someone seeing me put the number in while in the parking lot and having problems with that). Do you all have any comments on this issue? I know I could always change the password for the keypad if I am worried about it, but this could get annoying if I had to constantly change it. Do you all have any comments on the issue? My final question, is if the directions are different then the instructions on the Lightning web page, and/or if the parts required are different, what are the differences in directions and/or differences in parts? Thanks a bunch for your help with these questions, you guys are always very helpful and I am always appreciative of your help.

Other functions:

Press [7-8] and [9-0] simultaneously: locks all doors and arms factory alarm if equiped

After entering code and opening driver door, press [3-4] to unlock all remaining doors.
After entering code, press [5-6] to open rear hatch (on SUVs) or trunk (on car).

This is one of the best mods I have done to my truck, but I agrtee with above, that one bolt is a pain in the arse.

A few questions on the keypad mod?

Will a 1998 Ext XLT have the harness with the plug already in the door for the keypad?

If it doesnt, can I still wire using the 99exp instructions and will the theft computer have the code on the side be compatable?

I have also been unable to get a decent answer from my dealer asto what year CD radios will fit in my 98. Any info would be greatly apprecited.

I'm trying to get this to work. I bought a handle with keypad. It came from an Expadition, 2001 I believe. I have a 2000 XLT. When I plugged it in, nothing happens. Ig I press the 1/2 button, it lights up for as long as I hold it. How many wires are there supposed to be?

I tested with a continuity tester and could only get a circuit with the 1/2 pressed. No other keys would close a circuit. I think the keypad may be bad. Any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.

Don't forget that you can add the "wireless keypad" for about $120 (stick on)
