JRocksSVT,
Wow, easy big guy! I think we'll find this is really just a matter of talking with the wrong people, as I'm guessing you probably called the manufacturer directly. You'd be better off dealing with us here at Performance for your tuning. Don't worry, we can make this work for you affordably. I'll explain a bit..................
By the way, just so you'll know, it is against the rules of this web site to discuss any specific pricing issues here, to keep what is considered to be "blatant commercial content" by the Webmaster off the message boards. So we can only say that we do discount that fee you were quoted, and offer different services to get you what you need much more affordably. Plerase just give us a call at our number listed below to get all the details, & we can go over this with you properly & thoroughly. I think you'll be very happy you did.
To get back to what you were quoted originaly, which was the fee for custom dyno tuning based on your individual vehicle's data, think about it this way: you have a sophisticated computer controlled supercharged engine, and you want to increase boost (cylinder pressure) by a large amount in conjunction with the use of your performance chip. The change you are making affects the tuning of that engine by quite a bit, and to individually dyno tune your vehicle, which is what you were quoted for based on your data, a lot of work has to be done to restore proper Air/Fuel ratios and timing curves, as well as tweaking some other aspects in the transmission a bit. Just to get the Air/Fuel ratios corrected requires you going getting your A/F's tested and sending us that data (this is assuming you aren't local to us or can't come here) so that we know just what that engine is doing. Then from that we can tune it in, and you have the A/F's checked again after the initial tune, and we then make any adjustments as may be required. In other words, what you were quoted was a fee to do whatever is required to insure that vehicle has it's own individual unique tune that puts it spot-on based on thorough dyno testing data; you weren't quoted a fee to just load a pre-existing program into your Superchip module, because the manufacturer will not do that. That is only done by a few of us Lightning specialty modifiers, Superchips will not do that directly.
The bottom line is, this sounds like a very simple misunderstanding, I'm guessing.
With the Lightning, we can provide you with a program already set up for your modifications in most cases, due to the sheer raw number of Lightnings that we've done that kind of individual dyno-tuning for, and *that* is what you are probably looking for.
Give us a call at our number listed below when you get a chance & we'll be happy to go over all of this with you and take care of your tuning needs affordably, if you'd like us to.
Hang in there, & we hope to talk to you soon!
