Hi Sixbanger,

You'll love the Superchip.

To XLT-Sport,

I don't remember if I've mentioned this before, but that sure is a good looking black truck. It's very clean, understated, & classy looking, nice job!

Sixbanger- Like Mike said you'll love it.
If your '99 is like mine and needs to have
a jumper done on it. Have no fear in sending it
off to superchip, the day they got mine it was
shipped back and I had it at 10:30 next day
all ready to go. Best money I've spent on the
truck.

Mike,

Thanks for the compliments. I wanted to keep it pretty simple. Mostly black with a few "brighter" add-ons to stand out.

Just so you know(if you remember), my name is Ben and I spoke to you on the phone today(Monday) about the electric fan kit. I think I'll be ordering that tomorrow .

Hi Sixbanger,

Yes, you said it exactly correctly, if you get a no-start in a '99 it could be from not having the connector fully cleaned or it could be a jumper issue. Or it could be a failed Superchip module, but that happens almost never. For that matter, it could be the PCM has been reflashed, causing a code mismatch. There are a number of things that can potentially cause a no-start in any vehicle like that, not just the '99's, but it's always pretty easy to find the problem & deal with it, and that's the most important thing, to be up and running opf courfse.

If you'd like to give us a call with your specific vehicle information, we can let you know if yours is one that has ever been affected by the jumper issue, and provide you with those instructions as well to have it done locally, or we can do just like with Paul, where we have the manufactuer take care of that for you quickly.

Don't worry, there's always a way to deal with any potential issue, so if you have any problems, they can be dealt with pretty easily.

Hi XLT-Sport,

There aren't many black trucks I find attractive (most people don't really take care of them), but yours does stand out as being classic and understated in it's appearance, and that makes all the difference in the world, at least, to me.

Enjoy your fans!

What all info about the vehicle is needed to determine if it is one that requires jumper work?

just ecu code? Mine is AAT2

Id figure that if that was all that is needed it could be checked upon ordering?

Hi Sixbanger,

Whether you'll have a jumper-box or not cannot be predicted by computer code, as it is literally a completely random issue, so we can't tell you when you order it if you are going to have a jumper box or not.

AAT2 is a *very* rare code, used only in a few early 1999 4.2 V-6 automatics, it's not seen in many trucsk at all. That doesn't mean anything negative about AAT2 by the way, just that it wasn't used in many of those trucks before the AAT3 code was released. AAT3 is a little bit more widespread, and then AAT4 is much more common during that timeframe, just to give you some info on teh AAT code series, we have a *lot* of V-6 customers.

AAT2 has on rare occasion been been affected by this, as has AAT3. To date, I don't remember us having any AAT4's there were affected, but that doesn't mean much. We went almost 2 years with no ZZT4's ever being affected, and then we had 1 that was, and only 1, with no more ZZT4's since that one ever being affected, either. That should give you some idea of the random nature of the "jumper box," as we call them.

What I would suggest so you can be fully prepared is to give us a call and have us email the jumper docs to you, and then go over that info with you as well over the phone, and if we do that, then you'll have the materials to detect whether you are going to be affected or not, and that would be a big help to know, instead of guessing. So give us a quick call & let us go over this with you & so we can make arrangments to get the docs to you and to explain exactly what is required, and most importantly how to tell if you have a jumper box, etc. you'll need our jumper docs to do that.

Talk to you soon!
