Schip/flip chip
Hi
Need clarification.
My flipchip...87/91+oct. Currently using 91oct. Thats the highest (pump) here.
Going on trip...I may be able to get 92/94oct.
Going from 91 to 92/94...do i do nothing..and advantage of higher oct. comes in with mileage?
Or would it be better to clear the PCM to allow the 92/94 to kick in sooner? Not forgetting the differences in octane..diluting or mixing 91 with 92/94 or vice versa with whats already in tank.
Ideally...highest oct. all the time...but depending on where your traveling..might not be able to do that.
My truck...25gal. tank.
Thanks....OT

Hi OT,
I wouldn't mess with clearing the PCM just because you'll be getting a chance to use a little bit more than 91 octane, even if you run into Sunoco's Ultra 94 octane, I would just fill 'er up as usual & keep driving, leave the PCM alone.
If you're going for all-out power at the drag strip, and don't mind going back thru the relearn cycle & starting the adaptive strategy adjustments from scratch, sure, you can clear the PCM after tanking up with 94 octane & see what happens. But unless you're looking for every last bit of ET at the strip, I would leave it alone & just drive the vehicle, using whatever premium gas of good quality you find along the way, from 91-94 octane, and not give it a thought.
Good luck!
