Warranty's

I have two questions, If I get a superchip will it void my warranty? Secondly can I install it myself without any problems?

No, a chip won't void your warrantee. No mod can "void the warrantee". If for some strange chance you have a failure that is caused by the chip than yes, the dealer may deny warrantee coverage for that repair. I believe that the warrantee is handled case by case. There are laws in place to protect the consumer from unfair treatment by the dealers.
Now there are a lot of us here that know that the dealer can't just deny coverage just because there is an aftermarket product presant. I don't think that that is widley known though. I hear that there are dealers around the country that intimadate their customers by telling them that aftermarket parts will "void the warrantee". People who don't know any better believe what they are told, and won't do any mods for that reason.
Fact is there is a certain amount of risk involved in modding your vehicle. You need to be prepaired to pay for a repair if an aftermarket product does in fact cause a failure. You would always want to go back to the aftermarket manufacturer for compensation but who can tie their vehicle up for that long?
I guess my point is, if you want the warrantee to cover every repair, always, maybe modding isn't for you. I think that a Superchip is well worth the risk, wich I think is a lesser risk than most mods, being that the Superchip really doesn't change anything but settings.

The Superchip is easy to install. If you have done things like change plugs, or valve cover gaskets ect. you will find installing a chip a sinch. You will want to do it right the firs time tough. People who have problems with a Superchip are usually the ones who didn't do a thourough enough job.

Wow. I've gone on for ever! I hope there is enough room left for others to respond.

Keep in mind this is my opinion. Keep an eye out for Mike (superchips distributer) as he can give you the skinny on the whole deal.

In the end, I suspect you will join the ranks! CHIPPED!

Hi Freak,

No, the Superchip will not void your warranty, that is actually against the law. You are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other legislation as well. Basically, you can install whatever you want on your vehicle, and as long as you do not *damage* it with your modifications your warranty remains fully intact.

If you did a modification that directly caused *damage* requiring repair (say, using nitrous oxide you burn a hole in a piston), then your warranty would not cover that, and it wouldn't be fair to expect the automaker to pay for that. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects both the consumer and the automaker, as it should, and it's what we call a nice set of "fair play rules."

The Superchip will not damage your vehicle, and neither will things like a good intake kit, a cat-back exhaust, etc.

The Superchip installation is easy enough that here at Performance, just over 98% of our customers install it themselves. We provide a signifcant amount of additional documentation that we write, in addition to the manufacturer's installation instructions. Our docs are designed to take a first-time installer thru this smoothly, with no surprises. All you have to do is to carefully read & follow our documentation, if you do that you won't have a problem. We're just a phone call away if you need Technical Support on something as well. :)

If you'd like to go over this in more detail, give us a call at our number listed below. To order the Superchip, you can either call us or use our online ordering system if you prefer, the link to our online system is just below as well.
