Wow Meter
Wow Meter
Got home from work early today to get ready for a doc visit. No chip. Got home from the doc's and wife said that there was still no sign of the UPS truck. Then she turned her head to hide her face. She was attempting to conceal the chip from me to see how upset I would get at UPS.
Not Funny. hehe
After reading posts from this forum and the instructions that the good people of Performance Products supplied me, installation was a cinch. Everything came apart easily and a combination of scraping and scrubbing cleaned the coating off of the connection rather nicely. Of course, time will tell if I didn't get all the coating off but it seemed clean. I did have the tab in the way but that was no problem to bend.
For the time being I will refrain from reading the gauge on the WOW METER. I will wait until the customary 500 mile learning period is up. What I can say after just a few miles to check things out is that the shift under WOT is awesome and I believe that I'm revving higher too.

Hi nchoman,
Thanks for a great post!
I just about split a side laughing at the stunt your wife pulled, simply because that kind of thing torques my crankshaft as well. I hate it when something doesn't arrive on time, and in this business, dealing with all kinds of custom parts, new parts, etc., it happens frequently enough you'd think we'd get used to it. Nope, we'll never get used to it, it's always upsetting. I'm glad it was just a joke in your case!
Glad to see you're enjoying the Superchip, and it's wise to give it enough time for the ECU to adapt to it's new programming before deciding on "the WOW meter."
Though it goes to work right away as long as the ECU is propelry cleared after installation, it will take 350-500 miles for the full 100% effects to be there.
Usually you'll get about 75%-80% or so in the first 50-100 miles after installaiton with proper clearing of the ECU, and then the rest comes in more gradually as you accumulate more miles, especially in the newer vehicles.
Glad to see you took care of that "lip" as well, that will avoid the potential for interference later on, excellent!
Sounds like a very good installation there nchoman, have fun & enjoy your new go-fast part!

Well, no 'chirp at 40' for me.
Although I can almost get a chirp when I tromp on it at about 25. My next two mods might take care of that. I can definitely feel the power gains across the board now and love it. All I can say is WOW!

Hi nchoman,
We know you know better of course, so just for those reading this who might take that old joke of Rocks seriously (the one where he talks about a so-called "chirps @ 40 option" in the Superchip, but of course there is no such thing), it's going to take significantly more than a 10%-12% power gain to get any kind of "chirp at 40 mph" in these 2-3 ton trucks.
That can be done of course (making an F-150 chirp the tires @ 40 mph or so), but usually not with just a performance chip alone in the vast majority of these vehicles. Once in awhile, we'll see with a few of the very lightest 2WD automatics, they'll give a small chirp of the tires on the WOT 1-2 upshift. But that usually happens only if you just happen to have the lucky combination of the lightest configuration and a tranny that flows enough fluid volume quickly enough with just the Superchip, fuel quality, the planets in the right alignment, etc., so that is very rare to have happen from just doing the Superchip alone in the F-150.
All kidding aside, glad to see you're enjoying the Superchip nchoman, & thanks for all your posts.
As you accumulate those first 350-500 miles, you get the full 100% effect as you get all of the 87 octane worked out of the system & the ECU adapting to it's new programming over the first few tanks of premium, etc. Glad to see you're happy with it!
Have fun,
