Hi Scott!

That's an excellent and important question, and one that comes up here frequently given the number of new F-150's that the participants of this web site buy.

We recommend having at least a few hundred miles on the brand new vehicle, 300-500 miles is enough. Now if you picked up the vehicle with 300 miles already on it, we feel it's a good idea to go ahead and put a few hundred *more* miles on it, so that *you* have a chance to drive the vehicle long enough to know whether or not it has any immediate problems that require service attention. Usually there is nothing like that, but it's a good idea to put at least a few hundred miles on any brand new vehicle. That way you know the vehicle is fine, also you have an idea of just how it runs & responds before you start doing modifications.

This would apply not just to the Superchip, but to *any* modifications.

With our vehicles here at Performance, we sometimes don't even get off the dealer's lot before we pop the Superchip in, but that's us, we buy a lot of these vehicles and we know their characteristics. Even with us, we're waiting longer before doing our mods these days than we used to (basically meaning just that we too are allowing a few hundred miles to maybe 1000 miles before the mods start), as we're doing more documentation of original performance & mileage, etc. prior to each mod.

You're about there right now, or very close to it, depending on how many miesl were on that vehicle before you took delivery.

No, the Superchip does not void your warranty, that is illegal. To legally deny a warranty claim, the automaker must prove the aftermarket part in question was the sole and direct cause of a failure requiring repair. You have the right to do anything you want to with your vehicle, as long as you do not *damage* the vehicle with your modifications, changes, etc., your warranty remains fully intact by law, and specifically the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

The other side of that coin is, if you do something to that vehicle that damages it, say, strap on nitrous oxide & burn a hole in a piston, you would be stuck with paying for that repair. And that would only be fair, in fact, that's what we call the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a good set of "fair play" rules, because it protects both the consumer *and* the automaker, just as it should.

Enjoy your new truck, & give us a call if we can be of any help, or if you need or want to know something, etc.

Hi Scott,

That sounds fine, putting another 1000 miles on it will give you a good idea of how it runs, etc.

That's a very nice choice in modifications, as those 3 parts you mention are not only the Top 3 best bang for the buck areas of modification, but those are specifically the best choices in the actual brands in terms of your results. Looks like you've been doing your homework!

Have fun & we'll talk to you soon!
