"higher" mileage?

I've been considering the Superchip for quite some time. Are there any special considerations for a "higher" mileage engine? I've currently got 114,000 on the clock. It runs like a champ, never fails, idles smooth, pulls hard, etc.
I dont like to stir up trouble (rarely ask the girlfriend what's wrong) specially with my truck.
Would a compression test be neccesary or beneficial before ordering?
Has anybody had problems after install on a previously perfectly running truck?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Hi CD,

That's an *excellent* question, and one that comes up fairly often around here.

The primary factor is the engine's basic health......... has it been maintained properly, has it had religious oil changes, no 10,000 miles oil change intervals over it's life in other words, are the spark plugs in good shape, has the fuel filter been changed in the last 10,000 miles, is the serpentine belt in good shape or is it still the original belt, etc.

If the engine is basically healthy and uses little to no oil in between oil changes, and all the routine maintenance has been done, then sure, you can do some bolt-on modifications if you like.

No, you do not have to do a compression test before doing modfications like the Superchip. If you want to do a static cylinder pressure test anyway, that won't hurt, but it's not necessary before installing the Superchip.

Heck, some guys will bolt on a supercharger at that number of miles (I wouldn't), and in most cases, even that works out fine.

If you'd like to go over this in more detail, feel free to give us a call at our number listed below.

Good luck with your truck, nice to see them being hung onto after they're paid for!

Good news

Thats good to hear.
I would venture to say my engine is in excellent shape., I change oil at 3000 religiously (valvoline 5w30), don't have need to add between changes, it's brown at changes (I've even had a neighbor pour my old oil into his old dodge) LOL. Tranny changed every 30k. Spark plugs changed at 100,000 (.050 gap when pulled) they needed it and were replaced with the MC double platinum. Belt could use a change, To do soon.
At any rate I'll give a call soon!
What kind of turn around time are we looking at? Stock on the shelf Right? Ship tomorrow?
I'm impatient about mods. LOL. isn't everybody?
Thanks again!

Hi CD,

No waiting on the Superchip, most orders ship same day if we have the order by no later than about 2 pm Eastern or so, roughly.

We understand that when you decide to do a mod, you want it right now, and I have to confess I have some of that in me as well, no problem!

Sounds like your truck has had a very caring owner, glad to hear it!
