Trainig Factory Computer?
Trainig Factory Computer?
I wasn't sure which forum to ask about this, but I think somebody hear will be able to answer.
This is the 1st truck I have owned with the computer that learns how you drive and adjust to you. I have about 1500 miles on it. I want to max out my gas milage without giving up performance. (Doesn't everyone?) I have not made any mods yet. I have been alternating between driving very smoothly on one tank of gas, and putting the pedal to the floor several times on the next tank of gas. My normal driving style tends to be smooth, but I do not want to give up any "passing power" Am I creating a manic depressive computer? Should I just drive normally and see what happens? I will be doing some mods in the future, but I am not ready to start tinkering yet. Any advise?

Hi Dispenser4hire,
The effects of adaptive strategy on actual raw power due to driving conservatively are very small, on the order of 2%-3%. The more you drive it conservatively, the more it will attempt to optimize it's operations for that type of driving, though keep in mind that it's ability to do so is really *very* small and minor, you'll never notice it most likely in a 4.6 SuperCre.
For all practical purposes, this is not something you need to be concerned about, just drive your vehicle however you want to, and you'll be just fine. There isn't anything you can do in the way of "training" the ECU for better mileage, for example.
Since you intend to remain stock for now, just enjoy that beautiful new F-150 and drive it however you want!
