Question about computer chips
I don't know much about computer chips. I have a 2000 Lightning. I currently have a roar air intake system, Racing plugs, high flow cats and a vortek muffler. My 60 ft time is ranging between 1.94 and 2.13. But I seem to be loosing momentum just before the 1/8. I'm only hitting a top speed of 94 - 96 MPH. Can you give me some suggestions on what type of chip and or program would give me the best results in this situation. I don't even know the difference between different chips and programs,I am ruuning in Las Vegas and the elevation is around 2000 ft. I can't seem to get be;ow a time of 14.35 in the 1/4. Is there anything I can do to increase my top end power. I welcome any response that can be of help. Thanks in advance
Jack

Hi Jack,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
At 2000 ft. of elevation, you have lost 6%-8% of your power, so it's never going to run as quick or as fast at 2000 ft. above sea level like it will at sea level of course, I'm sure you already know that.
With the amount of variance in your short times (60'), you have starting line issues to work out as well as more power being desired.
With regard to what type program to use, that depends on your exact modifications and how the vehicle is being used, there is no one set program or "type" of program that you need or will benefit from. It's a matter of properly tuning the vehicle for it's mechanical configuration, fuel quality, and use, and we can easily make any tuning changes needed in the Superchip. Having your powertrain programming optimized with the Superchip will knock off anywhere from a low of 3 to as much as 7 tenths off the Lightnings times, and will certainly help you quite a bit compared to running on the factory program.
There are *plenty* of things you can do to improve the performance of that vehicle. It's too involved to get into here of course, and we'll need to know exactly what your current mods are, location, and numerous other factors to be able to advise you correctly.................... which modifications to do, what kinds of programs to use, what order you do your changes in, and when the custom tunig should be done as well as how, etc, will vary based on all these and some other factors. This is why a phone consultation is mandatory, as modifying a Lightning gets involved pretty quick, and it's important to avoid mistakes, etc.
You'll want to give us a call so we can go over this with you. Our contact info is below, please just give us a call when you get a chance & we can go over all of this and more with you thoroughly and properly.
Briefly, you'll probably want to raise boost and of course you will need to be retuned properly with the Superchip, as well as anything else we may discuss and when you call, we can go over exactly what you've done and whre you want your performance to be in detail, then we can map out a plan of modifications that you can do either as a package or one at a time to get your performance where you want it. There are enough bolt-on parts to take that Lightning all the way down into the 11's without using nitrous oxide, so don't worry, you still have *LOTS* of performance that can be added to that Lightning!
In any stock to lightly modified Lightning, changing out the catalytic converters and doing changes to the cat-back part of the exhaust don't add much power at all, as the factory setup breathes pretty well up to about the 450 hp level. However, they are good mods to have done for the things you'll need to do to get that motor really singing, so it's certainly not in vain, they'll help more in the future as you gain more power.
I don't know what you mean by "racing plugs," but you don't need any kind of true racing spark plug for that motor nor should a true racing plug be used, as they are generally way too cold for your current configuration, and any vehicle driven on the street.
Just give us a call & we'll be happy to go over all of this with you.
In the meantime, hang in there, help is just a phone call away so don't let this bother you!
