Thumbs up Superchip Results!

I have had the SuperChip in for 3 weeks now. I have waited to post my opinions on the performance results so I could really put the truck into many different situations. I didn't want to join the multitude of "next day" "WOW" posters..........but........."WOW"!

I used to be a hot rodder in my younger days, and for 10-15 years, every car/truck I had, I was adding performance parts continuously. I can honestly say that I have never gotten so much "bang for the buck" as I have with this SuperChip. I have spent untold thousands of dollars on performance add-ons and nothing has been as good for the price as this little $225 part.

Here is what I have noticed in my "new truck"
--amazingly better shift characteristics
(tranny was sloppy and sluggish before the chip)
--better throttle response, especially at highway speeds. With cruise set on 75, just lay the foot and the throttle, and look at the speedo and it shows 85
--0-60 times cut by .20 seconds (10 run average before and after the chip)
--this may just be in my head, but...the engine seems to have a meaner sound out the tailpipes! sounds great! Before, the engine had no "back down" when revved up in neutral, now has a nice little growl.
--all this, and no noticeable change in gas mileage!
on a 280 mile trip this past weekend, got 15.7 tailgate up, and 16.2 tailgate down. a little better than other trips. To work and back 13.5 just like always.

Ford should program their ECMs to do this from the start. The test drive alone would surely sell alot of trucks!

I can only say I wish I had gotten it sooner.

Hi RebelYell,

Thanks for your post.

To do all those acceleration runs and still pull the same mpg numbers is pretty impressive........ you may find that in time, your mpg actually increases a bit when your driving returns to a more "normal" pace. It was also interesting to see your mpg numbers with tailgate up and with it down. We all know it grabs bags of air and thus slows the vehicle down & requires more fuel when it's up, but it's nice to see some numbers on that, thanks!

The thing we try to stress is that the Superchip is never going to feel like a supercharger, of course, it's simply the cheapest & best way to get about a 10% power gain as well as nice improvements to shift characteristics in the automatics, better driveability, improved throttle response, towing ability, etc.

Glad to see you're enjoying your Superchip, have fun!

Qouting Mike T....

That IS my normal pace! hehehe

I drive my truck pretty hard all the time. I'm a leadfoot I reckon. I just wanted to add that the fuel mileage on the trip was only a 2-tank test. One tank on the way to Savannah with gate up, one tank on the way back with gate down. I couldn't find an Amoco or Texaco near Savannah, so I filled up at a Phillips 76. I wanted Amoco so that brand would not be an issue. Oh well. Phillips is good gas I reckon.

Thanks for your and Anita's assistance in getting my jumpers soldered. Hard to beat great support

Hi RY,

I hear you on your normal driving pace. As I've gotten older, I've managed to slow down my "normal" driving, though I'm still known to put a dent in the firewall with my foot every once in awhile.
