question for superchip Mike
i have a 2001 supercrew with a 5.4. i want to put a chip in it. where is the best place to order one? what exactly are the limits to a chip? can you program it in different stages to get the amount of performance a certain customer is looking for? i realize that you cant make miracles, but if i want max h.p. and xsmn shift points, can you program one that will get the most h.p. without having spark knock or any other side benefeits?
thanks for your help

I had an extra Superchip when I replaced the existing one in
my Lightning that I had Mike set up for my Screw when I was
at his location last month.
I am very , very ,impressed with the results.
The shift points are amore agressive, and the truck runs so much
better that it is unbelieveable. Only down fall, which really don';t
bother me is that you have to run at least 91 octane.
I drive 80 miles a day from my home to the Big Blue Oval plant where I work, and average 19 mpg. The truck has 32,000 miles on it and runs better than new.
Go for it, you will be PLEASED.

Hi marcscrew,
The Superchip basically does exactly that, it tunes your engine for maximum safe power using good quality premium gas, 91 thru 94 octane, with no detonation, etc.
We don't really call the various programs multiple "stages," per se. We can do things like do a dual program type of Superchip, called the Flip Chip, where we can do an all-out drag racing type of program on Side 2, and then another performance program on Side 1 that will still let you do everything from towing to anything else.
It really gets down to just what is appropriate for each vehicle's level of modifications and how the vehicle is being used. Most people, unless they have major mods like a supercharger, etc. that require custom programming/tuning, or those who want a dual octane configuration, use the "standard" Superchips performance program for their vehicle. Every Superchip is tuned for each individual vehicle's exact software revision in it's powertrain computer, so it's a program designed for that specific vehicle.
The "standard" Superchip performance program will work with things like intake kits (Air Force One, etc.) & cat-back exhaust systems, underdrive pulleys, etc. Only if you do things like change the MAF (mass airflow meter) or bolt on a supercharger, nitrous, ported heads, or other major modifications do you actually need custom programming/tuning, as a general rule. The Superchip can also be updated with custom programming at a later date, if needed.
Given that you do not have any major modifications listed for that vehicle, I would say you'll do just fine with the standard single program Superchip, which is what most people are using, unless you want to have a dual-program setup, in which case we can take care of that as well.
We have both the standard single program Superchip and the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip in the dual octane configuration available right here in our online ordering system, to access it just click on the link below in our signature line.
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, or perhaps talk about any other modifications you may be considering & just want to know more about them etc., give us a call & we'll be happy to help.

I thought that was a bit wierd also, when I saw this thread with 2 "Marc's" in it.
What a coincidence that one works for Ford, the other for a Ford dealership, you both drive 80 miles, etc.
