hey mike , i was browsing the site and noticed you dont have a chip listed for my model year truck . do you have or can get a superchip for my truck? i've read the stories about hypertech and jet . dont wanna go that route .
Hi Ray,
I'm glad you asked, as yes, we do make Superchips for the "older" trucks too!
As long as it is a computer controlled and fuel injected Ford, we generally make a Superchip for it, and that starts roughly about '86-'87 or so.
We'll need to know the computer code of that individual vehicle to be able to tell you whether or not a Superchip is available for your truck. In the 1996 & earlier F-150's the first place to look is to open the driver's door, and then look in the front part of the door frame, in the area of the door hinges. There you should see a stiocker that has a 3 or 4 digit code on it, usually 3 letters followed by 1 number. By the way, we're not talking about the sticker on the back of the driver's door that says "calibration" on it.
If your code sticker is missing, and they are many times in the pre-'97's, then you can just go to the computer itself, which is located behind the driver's kick panel. Just pull that panel and you can usually see a code sticker on the computer, which looks like a rectangular-shaped galvanized aluminum box, basically.
If you have any problems finding your code, just give us a shout and we can help.
The gains on those 5.0's run 18-20 HP, depending on whether it's a 180 hp version or the 200 hp version of the 5.0 motor.

Hi Mac...
Until mike gets back here....
There maybe no sticker on computer? If its held in place by a bracket..try to remove and see if its there.
I know the code sticker was like that on my 99SC...saw it after i removed the bracket. Didnt have to take computer out to find it.
Good luck...OT

Hi Ray,
Looks like we're going to need to talk over the phone on this one.
That code isn't a normal valid format, so you're probably looking at something else, but we can double check that over the phone, it's just too detailed to type it all out.
Breifly, if the code sticker is missing in the door frame, then you pull of the driver's kick panel, as mentioned in the last response. Sometimes there will be a code sticker on the back of the computer, and sometimes there will not be. However, there will always be a larger code sticker on top of the computer, and many times you cannot see that sticker without removing the computer from the vehicle, the way it's mounted there. I'll need to provide you with specific instructions on how to do that to make it an easy step-by-step process, which we can email you, send by FAX, etc., just give us a shout.
There is one other place that you can try, it's a bit of a longshot, but sometimes you can find the code on the wiring harness where it attaches to the front of the computer under the hood. In the pre-1997 F-150's, it will be on the driver's side, under the brake master cylinder. The wiring harness looks like it's doing a dead-end into the firewall, but that is actually where it connects to the front of the ECU. This wiring harness will have a single 10 MM bolt dead center. Sometimes on that harness, close to the firewall, there will be a sticker with 1 or 2 lines of writing on it, and within those 2 lines you can sometimes find the code. You can just write down evrything as it appears on that sticker, if present, and we can determine the code, if it's on there.
Hang in there, we'll help you find the code, there's always a way!

Sounds like "Murphy" is alive and well at your place, just like he is around here.
Well, good luck, hang in there & don't hesitate to give us a shout if you can't locate it, there's always a way to find the code.
