Flip-chip question.
Flip-chip question.
I've heard that on a flip-chip, you can run on regular gas. Is this true? And how much of a HP increase would I see/feel in a 4.2 v6, 5-speed running regular gas on this chip? Any replies are welcome.
Hi Wolverine,
Yes, in the 2-program Flip Chip, we can set it up with that dual-octane capability. In fact, that combination is available in our online ordering system here, the link to access it is just below in our signature line.
The raw power gain on 87 octane is very small, about 5 horsepower or so, but you still get all the other benefits as well, the improved shifting in the automatics, removal of top speed limiters, removal of various delays & retards, etc. so the vehicle is still noticeably mopre responsive to driver input, even though the raw power gain is small.
One thing to note about the Flip Chip is that it's price is increasing effective with orders placed with us after the close of business on Friday the 15th for the dual-octane setup, and if custom programming is required, the cut-off date to get in at the older pricing is the day before, close of business on the 14th is when we have to get all custom program worksheeets back by.
The price actually already went up on February 4th, but we're holding off the implementation of that price change so that as many people as possible can still get in at the older price that might have been thinking about going with the Flip Chip.
If you'd like to go over what the price is going to change to, or any other questions, details, etc. please give us a quick call.

Hi Wolverine
Mike T. says it like it is. Reread old and new posts..
I use flip chip. My truck is heavy...only noticeable HP gains is with 91+oct.
You want see any different on 5speed shifting..thats just on the auto.tranny. But. as you probably know..you got more hook up with 5sp...dont loose HP like with a.tranny. You should be getting good mpg & may even get more mpg with the chip? But...on 91+ oct. will perk that V6 up.
Nows the time to go for that chip from Mike T. at PP.
Good luck....OT
