Hi Richard,
Good question!
Superchips has been making chips a lot longer, since they basically invented the industry of aftermarket performance tuning for computer-controlled vehicles back in the early 80's, while Diablo has been making chips for just under 2 years now.
Both manufacturers tune each vehicle individually, and at all throttle positions, so they both work adding power all the time, in any situation. That makes them the 2 best chips in the marketplace, with Superchips being the best, Diablo being a very good #2, in our opinion. We offer Diablo to give people a choice between the only 2 "name" chipmakers that are tuning each vehicle individually according to it's computer code, and that add power at all throttle positions instead of just during open-loop extremely heavy throttle operation as is done by all other "name" chipmakers.
The Superchip has one obvious advantage in that it is 50-state emissions certified, so for those who want a product they know is CARB & EPA certified for legal use anywhere in the country, the Superchip is the choice.
The Diablo is a little bit different in appearance, as it is not a sealed module that stays on the outside of the computer like the Superchip, but instead is an open PCB card, that tucks up inside the computer. There are minor pros & cons either way, but either design works fine. I like the external module that is sealed, that's just personal preference.
Diablo is a good product for as long as they have been tuning these engines, just under 2 years now, certainly better than anyone else's product except the Superchip. Superchips has the edge here in terms of tuning expertise, experience, resources & knowledge, as they've been doing it for much longer and have done a lot of this type of work directly for many of the world's leading automakers over the years.
We use the Superchip in our vehicles here, and we have of course used the Diablo too, in a number of vehicles. The Superchip offers a little bit more power gained in the F-150, and a bit more thorough recalibration of the automatic transmission shift characteristics. That is not to say that the Diablo is weak or lacking. The Superchip is simply a more "mature" product, having had the benefit of more R&D, more engineering time & effort over the years.
The reality is, you would be happy with either product. I run the Superchip myself, as do the vast majority of our customers, and some of that is a sheer function of time, how long each company has been around, of course. We feel the Superchip represents the best optimization of the powertrain programming, so that is what we use here.
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, please feel free to give us a quick call, we'll be hapy to go over this with you.
Best of luck whatever you decide,

I was looking at the ordering system not that long ago and was wondering what the difference was and now I know thanks to this post and your answer Mike as I've been thinking of getting mine chipped in the spring if gas prices stay low.
