Question for Mike, of course.

Hi Mike-

Well I ordered my chip today, counting the days already. My question is on several occasions when I've gone to the dealer for a various problem; for example the check engine light coming on; they "cleared the codes" Does this mean the comp code thats on the door jamb was cleared and a new one was put back in, or was it just a comp code for that particular problem?

I never even though of this until after I ordered it today. Strange how my mind works sometimes.

Thanx for any help-
Nick

Hi Nick!

Not to worry, that just means that they cleared any error codes they found, if any. That doesn't mean that they have reflashed your computer, which would actually change it's software revision, or computer code, as we refer to it.

By the way, if that happens, if they actually do reflash your computer at some point in the future to a different factory program, they are required by Federal emissions law (though it only gets done maybe half the time overall, roughly) to place what's called a "Notice of Modification" sticker under the hood in a prominent location, and write in the new calibration code. Should that ever happen to you, the vehicle will not start with the Superchip installed, as you will have a code mis-match at that point, so we'll have to reprogram it to match once again. Should that happen, we do that for just a few bucks for return shipping, the cross-referencing & reprogramming is done free of charge. We won't let a dealer reflash cost you the use of your Superchip.

Enjoy!
