Why and what

Got a question to ask about tuners. Why would I get one and what will it do for me. I have the 5.4 triton. I looked at some of them and, well to tell you the truth its alittle confuseing. What are the down sides of these. Do you get a good return on your investment of fuel economy or do you loose because of ramping up the motor. Do you cause any harm as far as life of the engine and so on. Any help and suggestions or recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Seen that after I posted. How do you know how to tune and how do you know if you are doing it right. What is the recommended system that everyone uses when tuneing a 5.4. Does it ask for mods on the truck and make corrections? Also what results can I expect from the stock tune. Is it worth it?

You need to contact one of the recommended custom tuners. Programmers come with preloaded "canned" tunes which may or may not work well in your truck, depending on mods.

Yes
Yes
Yes
Just get any one of the big three, Edge, SCT or Diablo
Load the 87 or 91/93 performance tune
Drive your new beast and ask yourself "Why did Ford leave all this on the table?"

You can hope for a slight increase in fuel economy, but what you really get is improved drive-ability including throttle response, transmission shift points, and power.
It is the most band for your buck when it comes to adding power to your vehicle. The ONLY other mods you will see these gains are exhaust from the HEADER back and forced induction.

Now quit stalling and order yourself a tuner already!!!!!!
