Question PCN Performance Chip

Has anyone ever tried this product or know anything about the company.

Can any of these tuners give good results out of the box (i.e. add horsepower or improve mileage)?

If so which one is the best for the money?

I’ve been following some of the threads, but it seems very complicated.

What the deal with the custom tunes?

I have a stock 2010 F-150 FX-2 5.4L.

I’m looking to improve performance. I’m not too impressed with current throttle response or mileage. I’m only getting around 14 to 15 mpg, city or hwy, doesn’t seem to matter.

If it’s going to suck gas, then at least I would like better performance.

Some other tuners I'm forgetting.

Here is some quality reading:

and the list goes on and on... just use the search function.

PCN - never heard of it, but I'm new to the game.

It is not complicated
You might get some extra MPG but don't buy the tunes for that sole purpose.
Lots of power to be uncorked

You say you've been reading lots but I have my doubts.

Just being honest, let us know what you end up purchasing.

PCN is snake oil. They do not work, and can actually cause engine damage. All those things are is a resistor pack that fools the MAF sensor and throws calibrations out of whack.

If you do anything, you need a programmer with some tunes. Recommended programmers here are SCT, Edge/Gryphon, and Diablo. This is going to cost you a lot more than 50 bucks.

If you purchase one of the better programmers, will you also need to purchase additional custom tunes or do they come with some good settings for you vehicle out of the box.

Custom is always preferred - especially on a 2009+ with a 6R80.

Good news is, you can get a fully custom device for the same price as a canned one - and quickly - so no need to run canned if you don't want to.

Thanks for the advice.

I have an extended warranty on my truck. Will it void the warrantee?

Can I easily put the truck back to factory specs if I take it in for service and if so can they detect the previous teaks (i.e. tune history)?

It all depends upon the dealer and/or the nature of any potential warranty claim, if attributable to a mod. Some will deny at the drop of a hat; while others even sell these things themselves. Despite the M-M Act, the burden of proof rests with the owner. Who has the deeper pockets?

Detection is a subject of much debate. I, personally, happen to believe they can if motivated enough (e.g. $$$) - if not at the dealer level, then Corporate.

Always refash back to stock an remove the device from the vehicle, if present.

If in serious doubt, just don't until yer warranty expires. Very much a personal/financial decision.

Good luck.
