vmp or 5 star??

guys in the market for a new tuner. Does anyone have both tunes or have had both tunes from vmp or 5 star. Got it narrowed down to those too as troyers waite time is crazy. I know the subject has been beat to death prolly but just thought i check. did a search and not much side by side comparison.

In the last 2 months I have purchased a performance tune from vmp and a tow tune from 5 star. I would hands down go with 5 star again. Mike returned ALL my emails promptly. He even returned a couple before I could put my phone back in my pocket. I'm still waiting for vmp to return a few of my e-mails. O ya i had my 5 star tune within 12 hours, vmp was about 3.5 weeks. Mike also thanked me for the business

I recommend VMP.

It's about so much more than just a quick turnaround. Ask yerself just how comprehensive a tune it's likely to be in 12 hours, given yer not the only concurrent customer? Hello - is that Clark Kent?

The tuner feller should be focused on writing tunes, not providing instant communication response and gratification.

BTW - I got a thank-you from both TP and VMP.

Turnaround time should be not be a prime consideration, IMHO. The quality of the tuning should be, and the experience of the tuning feller.

If you have the time, consider TP.

Just my humble perspective folks.

what would be the difference of actually going there as opposed to just the waite time of the email tunes?

Based upon the queue for shop time, you'd make an appointment and go on the dyno for fully datalogged pulls to dial in the tuning, learn a lot, and have a blast doing it.

Don't know how far out that would be but certainly not as long as their current email turnaround I'd imagine.

Call to find out. Ask if there are any dyno days scheduled for this year.

I'd recommend vmp for the 04-10 trucks, troyer while i have heard is great, their custom tune turn around time is crazy.

VMP took 6 days for me to have the hand held at my house already loaded w/ tunes, innovative who tuned my f250 took 6 hours from order to email delivery a couple months is unacceptable to me.

I have had both and am currently running VMP's tunes. I just returned from a short drive after uploading the tow tune. I believe that this will be the one I use the majority of the time. 5 Star did a great job tuning my '10 with the 5.4L, really helped liven that truck up. Neither truck has any modifications, Customer service is great at both places. I am thinking of ordering a tune from 5 star just to compare apples to apples since I now have the 5.0L. Even though I was told several weeks, wait time for both was right at a week.

Guys just left Eric and innovative diesel. He tuned my f150. I know his name sounds like its all diesel but he's far from that. He's tuned tons of f150 and mustangs. He actually owns and f150 along with a few ford f 250's As far as the tune goes it is very sharp good shifts, throttle response and noticeable power gain. overall very happy. I will be getting in line for a troyer tune tomorrow. Can't hurt I guess. Eric informed me that he will be joining the site as a sponsor just as soon as he completes his ecoboost tune he is working on. I think he could be a good addition to the few quality tuners on this site. If I remember right he said he was going to have a separate website for his ecoboost
