I don't know which one to get!!!!

I have been reading reviews after reviews on programmer after programmer. They all promise the same thing. More specifically I have looked into Edge, Bully Dog, Hypertech, and Banks. Can I please get someone who actually drives a Ford truck (A man's truck) who has a programmer their opinion in all of this? Thank you.

well i have a superchips cortex and loved it untill i put headders on. If you have stock power and dont plan on changing much more than intake then i recomend it but I'm currently looking to get a progammer (GRYPHON) from POWER HUNGRY PERFORMANCE, check them out. I hear custom tunes can somtimes take a wile to get from them but are well worth it.

Yeah had a buddy recommend that one. And it was the 30 bucks per custom tune that kinda turned me off of them. At most I think I would do intake and exhaust. Probably not headers though.

2005, 5.4L?

Any intake mods (other than the Gotts mod) will require custom tuning.

Quite frankly if $30 per custom tune 'turns you off', then you really shouldn't even consider altering your truck's PCM with any tuner (canned or custom).

Understood, but I think I just meant more along the lines of others you can setup different modes yourself. Whether it be performance, tow/haul etc. but if you think I can better results tuning with gryphon and with aftermarket parts specifically... Then perhaps I'll give it another once over.

You will definitely get better results with the custom tunes in the Gryphon. The shifting/downshifting alone is worth the difference in cost. I put 30,000 miles on my 05 with the Edge canned tunes and thought custom tunes would be a waste. I finally gave in, got an 87 Perf and a 93 Perf and there was a LOT of difference. I put over 60,000 miles on it running primarily the 87 Perf tune. As far as being able to adjust the custom tune, I never needed to change anything but tire size. It was perfect as it was.

I've had the PHP monochrome gryphon and loved it.....I was running in my 2006 f150....

87 custom perf tune
87 custom tow tune
91-93 canned perf tune

then I switched to the edge CTS and through PHP I got my tunes loaded on it.....the display was great but some user adjustments plus datalogging were not available anymore....

Now in my STA I use the sct sf3 along with an Ultra gauge and have been having a great time using that setup also.....

You missed one - one of the most Popular, capable and effective ones - so I'm at a loss to understand how you missed it, given yer 'exhuastive' searching....

SCT X3 Model 3000

http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...=226&parent=66

THREE custom calibrations of your choice are INCLUDED in that price.

On the topic of WAI's / WASHOOBI's (excerpted from VMP's site):

We can tune for different cold air intakes on 05+ Mustangs and 04+ F150s. Any aftermarket intake that flows well and puts the slot-style MAF sensor into a larger less restrictive housing is going to REQUIRE a tune for the vehicle to run properly. Intakes that do not require a tune are often just as restrictive as stock and do not result in large power gains.

Many basic bolt-on modifications such as an UD crank pulley, dual exhaust or mufflers, and CAI kits (on 04' and older) Do-Not require a new tune. If you make a mod that requires a new tune, such as a CAI (on 05+), longtube headers or delete plates, an updated tune is no charge if the part is purchased from us or if the tune is requested within the six month support period. Mods like different tires, gears or a different temp. thermostat can be accounted for right on the tuner itself with on-device adjustments:

Stuff you can adjust:

Owner/tuner is Justin Starkey. Give him a call/email.

Fantastic tuning.

Sure - they all promise the same thing - but only a few actually deliver - this is at the top (due to it's more mature 09+ support).

The SCT X3 Model 3000 looks real nice. I appreciate all the input fellas. Definately think I'm torn between the Gryphon and the SCT X3 Model 3000 now. I will just keep digging away to see which one is right for me. Thanks guys.

If you have any intentions of upgrading your truck to a used 09 or '10 then the X3 is the best choice.
