No door code- Mike Troyer, help!
Hello Mike-
First off, I've definitely enjoyed all the great input. It's nice to see someone in the industry who knows and enjoys this stuff.
Well, anyway, here's the rub: I was getting ready to order my hungry truck a no doubt tasty Superchip for lunch, but there's a little glue and a bit of barcode left where my computer code should have been! AUUUUUGGGGHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I WANT A SUPERCHIP! And my truck does even more!
Also, question. When my driveshaft was replaced under the new TSB for 2001's (too short, caused ridiculous vibrations), those geniuses at Ford reprogrammed my trucks poor brain with a 99 MPH limit (part of the TSB!
). Will your chip fix that?
Thanks in advance.
Noel

Contact Ford
Give the Ford Customer Service Center a call. With your VIN# in hand, they can tell you the computer code. It was probably removed by the service personnel after your unit was reprogrammed, and given a new code. From what I've read on these boards, there should be a new sticker with a new computer code somewhere (I think it's supposed to be under the hood). Look for a sticker with some info plus the new code. If you can't find it, call Ford with the VIN.
Good Luck. I'll be 'chipping' soon myself.

The new code "should" be under the hood somewhere. The old code will still be on the computer even tho the sticker on the door jam is gone. If you think they did reprogram it you may have to go back to the dealership and find out which code they used.
Anyways, Superchip Mike will be here shortly(maybe after the F150 rally in Virginia) with better details.

Hi Palerider
I guess my dealer is not so bad after all, the shop foreman told me that he would not reprogram my computer. Ive only had it up to 75mph so far, so i don`t know for sure, just taking his word for it that he didn`t do it. Even if he did the superchip should remove the speed limiter. I will be ordering my chip very soon.
Larry.

Hi palerider,
Thanks for your kind post!
OK, if your computer code sticker is missing from your door frame (open the front passenger door, then look in the front part of the door frame, just above the door hinges, and there should be a white sticker with 3 letters and 1 number on it), then you can go to the computer itself.
The computer in these 1997 & newer F-150's is mounted just above the passenger's kick panel and to the right of the dash assembly. It will be held against it's mounting plate/bracket by a black pressure clip. Simply remove that clip, and then look on the back of the computer where that clip was covering up, and there you will find another code sticker.
If you think your vehicle's computer might have been reflashed to another code at a dealership service department, then they are supposed to place what is called a "Notice of Modification" sticker under the hood in a prominent location, usually on top of the factory airbox or right over top of the radiator, etc. In other words, in an obvious place so that any future technician would see it right away.
Also, as another poster mentioned, you can have your dealer scan the computer and tell you it's calibration code, which we can usually cross-reference for you. If whoever reflashed the computer did their job properly, you shouldn't have to pay to have that done, that info should already be under your hood on the "Notice of Modification" sticker, but if it's been reflashed and that sticker wasn't applied, then you may need to get them to scan it right quick for you to get that info.
If you have any other questions, concerns, etc. about this, or difficulty in determining your ECU's code, please feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email, and we'll be happy to give you a hand with all that!
