Same dealio

I went to hang with a buddy this weekend and per my advise he quit jacking around with the crap on ebay and bought an Edge CS for his 2010 4.6 3v.
He had the EXACT same problem with the rev limiter in 2nd where it would hit the limiter and bounce a second or two before catching the next gear. Edge rolled his program back to a previous version which seemed to eliminate the issue for about a week. We went for a ride Sunday to demo the unit. I was super impressed and the programmer made the truck every bit as quick as my 2007 5.4. In second we hit the rev limiter and it acted up again. Has there been any resolution for you Texas254?

Tell your buddy to get some custom tunes from PHP.

Although I agree that custom tunes should solve everything, to me it seems crappy that out of the box these units are behaving like this. If canned tunes were all he was looking for, the unit should not make the truck behave like this. Edge customers should not be forced to buy custom tunes, because the software setup from the factory canned tune is problematic.

Funny you mention that, he is currently working with Bill on this issue. He says they have been very responsive and very helpful.

I am waiting on custom tunes from PHP, I was supposed to have them over 2 weeks ago, just still waiting! Bill said that edge has done stuff like this in the past.

I never even tried to get edge to fix it, I've been wanting custom tunes for a while now. I'd rather deal with a small company like PHP than edge anyways. I just feel with php's reputation Bill will be able to fix any problems I ever have with my programmer.

I completely agree, I've ran half a dozen other Programmers on other (diesel) truck with no "custom" tunes and no problems. In fact I'd never heard of custom tunes till I got a f150

I will have to look in to it further but I'm pretty sure my 99 5.4 is doing the same thing running a custom tow tune from PHP. I've only got on the throttle hard from a stop twice but both times I had to back off to get the 2-3 shift. I had not thought about it much till I saw this thread.

Edge is TOAST

Update
My buddy went to the Dyno yesterday and ran the following numbers on the "extreme" setting w/ 93 octane:

2010 F150 4.6L 3v
HP 262.81
TQ 279.31

And then the programmer stopped working all together! Edge is over nighting him a new programmer. Bill wants to adjust the A/F as it was a little lean on the dyno pulls. I will let you guys know when the new programmer arrives.

Bill is tha man!!! Finally got my tunes loaded, and truck drives like a dream. Shifts great, smooth and frim, no more bouncing off the rev limiter at WOT. 87 performance is smooth no pinging. And my MPG has gone back up quite a bit. (it went down considerably with the last edge update) well worth the money so far!

I did have a little issue with PHP's service though but I'm thinking they are just busy as hell and overlooked me. I was supposed to get my tunes on 8/24, emailed them on the 27th and they were almost done. Little more time went by and never heard from them, emailed them 4 or 5 times with no response. Finally got tired of email and called friday the 9th no answer all day. Called this morning (9/12) and found out my tunes were ready on the 5th, just no one email me or loaded them on fusion. Little frustrating, but now with them loaded well worth the wait!!!

I just learned that Bill is working with Edge on the shifting problems in the 09+ trucks with the new transmissions. There seems to be some new "features" in the shifting schedules that are not fully understood. I'm sure, with time, things will be brought under control.

I have canned tunes too, with no mods to it at all and I will hit the rev limiter in 2-3 3-4, don't have to be WOT but I do have to be putting my foot into her. Emailed edge a few times rolled it back once. Still does it, now they will not answer my emails. Maybe a CTS for sale soon, or trade for an SCT.

I don’t know much about the SCT on how it compares to the CTS, but I really like the CTS platform so that’s why I went with PHP custom tunes. I would recommend upgrading the CTS through PHP, even with no mods it made my truck a whole new truck. I've been running on the 87 performance and absolutely love it!

I have though about upgrading it with PHP, I have a few reason why I have not done so.

1. Emailed them long ago about upgrading my old evo for my 06
-NEVER answered my email.
2. Emailed them again about upgrading my CTS for my 10 fx4
-Never answered my email
3. I have read in many forums about difficulty contacting them when problems came up.
4. I have read about how long it can take for tunes to made for people in many forums.

Now with all that I would, because I have read GREAT things about what they do. Get tunes from them if
1. They would answer an email in a timely fashion.
2. Guarantee my tunes would also be available in a timely fashion.
3. Be available to answer questions and modify tunes if needed.
