XCAL2 tuner problem

History: I have had this XCAL2 for awhile now and it has worked flawlessly. I have had three different people (tuners) load tunes on it. I have had email tunes that I have loaded on it. My most recent tuner emailed me a tune, i had no problems loading it. I have made adjustments to other tunes I have received and then reloaded them and have had no problems.

Spun the vehicle up on the dyno and some changes needed to be made (on the new tune.) The tune that was sent to me was unlocked. My local tuner made the necessary changes and we plugged the tuner back in. This is where I have an issue.

The tuner gets stuck on "Clearng old data, please wait." We attempted to load the changes on three different occasions. Each time it would get stuck. The last time we attempted to make the changes, we waited 27min...still nothing.

The guy I got the tune from said the tune must be corrupted. I tried redownloading and that did not help. The local tuner had never seen this happen before. Both of these guys are Very VERY well known in the Ford tuning community.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on?

I had to remove your second post as only one thread per subject is allowed.

As to your problem, it would seem to me that the guy did something that corrupted the file since the problem starts with his changes. I'm a firm beliver that the more you mess with these programs, the more you ask for trouble. I like to get a good tune and leave it alone.

Amen to that! And, to add to your post Jim, I try to change the tune in my truck as little as possible. Essentially, I swap between a tow tune and a non-tow tune, depending on my needs and that's it.

We've seen too many people having problems who seem to be in the habit of swapping tunes whenever the mood hits them.

Moral - find a tune that works, drive it and be happy.

I dunno guys. I have loaded dozens of tunes on my Xc2, from others and those that I have written, so far without incident. A corrupted file scenario sounds the most plausible.

Maybe I should give some more background so you all dont have to make assumptions. As I mod, a new tune is a necessity. The most current tune is accompanied by a complete new intake setup that relocates the MAF and puts it in a bigger housing. Previous tune changes were for cams and additional boost.

The tune was mail order. The changes being made were to fine tune it with a dyno. (4% more fuel, 1-2 degrees more timing.) These are not "***** nilly" changes because I feel like it. If you load a mail order tune and dont check it on a dyno, you are asking for trouble...especially in a scenario like mine.

So far, no one on any forum has been able to answer the question posed, nor has any tuner that I have asked. SCT gave me some options to try, but none of them worked. Their suggestions were to disable my anti virus and change my UCA settings on my computer and reload the tune.

The next step is to try to download the tune to a different computer with liveload and load it to my tuner from there and see what happens. It seems like if it was a corrupt file, it wouldnt load at all...I dont know though...and no one else seems to either!

Tuner has firmware version 1.15 on it. That is the latest on the SCT website.

SCT asked several questions. I answered them, then I never heard back. Who knows what is wrong.

My last firmware update was 06', shouldn't be a problem.
