Intake temp 120F + ???
I noticed the other day on my Gryphon CS that my Intake Temp "IAT" was at 130F. It went anywhere from 120's to the 140's depending if I was in traffic or cruising on the highway. I did install the GOTTS mod but it's totally inside the wheel well, so it's not sucking in hot engine air. I live in Florida so I expect the IAT to be above 100F, but the temps I'm getting seem really high. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, that is really hot. Be glad you dont have a commercial cold air intake. (emphasized for sarcasm)
1) The fender well is not perfectly sealed from the engine compartment so you will be seeing slight increases from there, but only slight because there are only relatively small holes and gaps as compared to the air's source.
2) Your fender, where most of the air is coming from, is a metal wall to the outside. If it is painted a darker color it will absorb more solar radiation and heat up. If you are sitting in traffic the panel is not being cooled by airflow like it would if you were driving.
3) What breeze you can get while sitting or moving very slowly is going to be the ambient temperature, meaning if it is 100F outside, that is what is being used to cool off the fender. That is also what your starting temperature is, but in reality it is probably even higher since pavement also absorbs solar radiation and gets hot (same as #2).

Comparing IATs in Florida vs. Alaska isn't a fair comparison. Ambient temperature has a lot to do with how much warmer the air gets through the intake tract.

50 Degree spread leaves your ambient around 70 degrees...It doesn't even get below 80 at night over here. The OP is in Florida, you'd have to cross more than a just few latitudinal lines

(Btw, I noticed no change in driving temps from stock vs Gotts vs JLT, idling was a huge difference though! )

Thanks for all the good info guys!! It's good to know I'm not the only one seeing these high temps. I'm sure when I get in my truck at 5:00 pm the interior is close to 130F so the fender has to be just as hot, or hotter. Makes sense. I think I'll switch my CS gauge back to TCL and quit looking at how hot it is outside.
