Opinions on Hypertech Programmer????

I have a 2008 F-150 FX4 Supercab 5.4L. A friend had a 2007 F-150, same exact truck as mine. He has a Hypertech Programmer for that truck and it will work on mine also. My question is, is the Hypertech a good choice?? I am just looking for a little more power and different shift points for when I pull my 26 ft camper. I live in WV, so when I am pulling up a hill, my transmission works alot and my friend said it changed his shifting and I rode in it and it did do better with a loaded trailer behind it. No I am no expecting it to outrun a Dodge Hemi or a Chevrolet 6.0L, but I want just a little more. Any opinions or info is appreciated.

Custom tunes >>>> any canned tunes

Therefore, canned tuning device <<< custom tuning device, which of course means:

Gryphon or SCT XCAL3 >>>> Hypercrap or Bullycrap

Where can i get either one of these and what is the price?? I already have a K&N intake if that makes a difference. I am only keeping this truck till late fall then trading for a 2011 Supercrew with the 5.0L.

I appreciate your help and info. But like I said, I am trading the truck in late fall for a 2011 F-150 and I dont want to go out and spend $300-$500 or possibly more on programming or a chip for just a few months. I was offered this one for $200. Which I think is fair. I just want to know if anyone is running that programmer and if they believe it will help the shifting and power when I am towing. It does fine in 90% of the places I tow it to, just some hills I could stand a little more.

If you're trading it in in late fall then keep the money in your pocket. You have gone this long without it and towed what you have. Whats a few more months.

hypertech

I had a hypertech on my 06. u can change the shift points and fimness of the shifts but power wise u won't notice a lot. I went from the hypertech to the gryphon tuner with custum tunes. Night and day diff. over the hypercrap. I also would save ur money and put it toward your new ride.

The tuning for the 2008 f150 5.4 picks up 16 HP & 28 TQ and will let you adjust shift points & also firm up the shifting so your clutch packs don't slip as much. It usually picks up 1 to 2 mpg on these gas engines. Any questions you call Hypertech Support or contact me here. Gary @ Hypertech
